I once trained 10 baby chickens to fly up onto my arms without treats… it was glorious. The chicks were always super interested in me and all i had to do was step on the coop, make funny noises and stick my arms out and suddenly 10 baby chicks were pushing eachother off to get onto my arms, that was one of the happiest days in my life To train chickens now i just hold the individual chickens favourite seed in my hand and shake it around to attract the chicken to the food while standing, then i pat my arm and motion the chicken to jump onto my arm like a perch, after about 5 mins they learn and hop onto my arm, i give them the treat and thereafter they pretty much get the point, its a very easy way to transport my chickens without chasing them and just put them in the coop when they are on my arm.

Nice! We now have two wild chickens that frequent our yard, since about 6 weeks ago. I've already trained the pullet to jump in my lap for treats. She's funny. Now, if I sit out on our back steps, she'll come over and jump on my lap just to look in my hands and see if there is anything there. The rooster does not seem so willing to be trained, though, I don't think I have given as much effort as I did for her. They're both dolls. I am going to try with the rooster, now, too. I feel inspired after watching your video. We live in the city. I wish I could get the rooster to stop crowing, because there is an ordinance of no roosters allowed. He is technically not mine, but he's always in our yard by his own choice. Gates are opened, and they can come and go as they please. He perches on the fence and sounds off. I go out there and beg him to stop, but he is like, "yeah right!".

All those chickens look delicious 😋

They are egg laying chickens, not meat chickens. So they don't have a lot on them. Also most chickens we are accustomed to eating are like 2-3 months old and these are 3 years old, so unless you cook them in a slow cooker and you like nibbling bones for hours, I highly doubt they are that good. But your mileage may vary :)

How do u get adult chickens tame without scaring them?
@ABigFanOfEthobot4 ай бұрын
You usually have to "tame" them when they are chicks it makes it a lot easier, but you can teach them that your not a threat by saying something every time you see them so that they get used to your voice and then as you progress start giving them treats...its a whole process (I would know how to do this because I have a trained chicken ❤)

Hey, nice video and very helpful. Couldn't help but notice you have a black chicken among your barred Plymouth, Is she a Plymouth as well? I had 4 chicks all barred and one came out all black, acting weird, the other girls peck on her, shes my favorite. and she's insane.

@@KyriosApo but i like jazz . Will my rooster like jazz ? How can i ask him ?. And if he doesn't like will he bite me or just say it ? I'm just confused
@KyriosApo2 жыл бұрын
I know roosters prefer some funky or acid jazz. For classic jazz i'm not sure. Does he have red feathers? That's a sign he's notably a funky rooster. But you can try some jazz as well. Begin with some Red Garland. If he moves his head along with the swing, he likes it! If he doesn't, move to plan B. Put him some James Brown. He's gonna like it for sure.
