Backpakers tip : (not seen on any of this blogs)use newspaper black &white print only !! As an insulation between inner and outer layer of foil , cut to match packet less of end folds.this makes it almost burn proof.. (paper can char) but really foolproofs overlooking on coals.

Thinking of doing this for my husband and I, while the kids eat fun foods like hotdogs and walking tacos 👍

That Is exactly what we started doing on family trips! The hubby and I can only eat hot dogs so many times! This works perfectly and makes dinners so much more enjoyable! Happy camping! I would love to hear if you come up with any yummy fool meals!

I just got 4 or 5 of my favorite go to spices including salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, Paprika and put it together in one spice jar. Duh it’s the bomb. Also picked up for camping a 5 in one spice containers. Just enough for a few meals but you can refill when you get home.

I see someone had asked about the disposable aluminum pie tins. As a lifelong camper and after cooking hobos for many years with sheets of foil, I now use the tins covered with a sheet of foil and find them much more advantageous. The tins are more sturdy - handier to mix ingedients in, there's no loss of juices, they are easier to move, easier to avoid hot team when opening, and more convenient to eat out of. I look forward to making the fajitas (love the rice suggestion) and berry cobbler. Thank you for sharing your videos. I hiked into the Upper Priest Lake area to camp August 2020, after watching your video now kayaking to a campsite is on my list.

April, that is so awesome. Priest Lake is so amazing! We might give the foil trays a try, it does seem a lot easier to eat out of for sure! Thank you for supporting our channel, we really appreciate it!

I’ve made (and burned) my share of hobo packs. This is an excellent presentation. Really well done. I’m not a fan of discount store stuff because it’s usually cheap because of who is making it and where it is made. Again, excellent video.

Make sure to not place in flames. Coals only.

Looks amazing! I'm a big fan of foil packet cooking, but I learned on my last trip to start with parchment paper as my innermost layer, wrap that up tight, then 2 layers of foil. Into the coals. I found that nothing stuck to the foil, the potatoes crisped up beautifully and because the parchment paper is a little more durable than foil, I can eat right out of the packet. The foil gets recycled, and the parchment paper can be burned in the firepit.

I love this idea! I will have to give it a try on my next trip. What's your favorite doll meal that you have cooked? Always looking for quick easy recipes that turn our delicious :)

I do frozen raw shrimp, with frozen broccoli florets. I add lemon, and garlic butter. I pre-pack all the items (frozen) into a vacuum seal bag. I do all my dinners this way. Layered in my cooler in the order I plan to eat them. Then its a simple matter of opening the pouch, putting it into the parchment, the foil, and then the coals. Because of the parchment wrapping everything stays moist and steams exactly the way it should. Works the same for chicken breast, salmon filets, etc. Frozen meals make prep and clean up in the campsite a breeze.

Super helpful and looks really good. Well done video! I hope you gave your sweet doggies a little bite. They seem so patient while all the good smells were there!

They definitely got their share, probably more than they should! We had made a couple extra packets, so there was plenty!

I love hobo meals. One suggestion though, have the camera zoom out more to see you and what you're doing more. Almost turned it off because it was too close. Ty

It really makes cooking while camping so easy. I hate spending a lot of time in the "kitchen" while camping, that's not why I came! But, this is quick, easy, all the prep is done at home. I just put in the fire, unwrap and enjoy! Honestly, this video was much more work than what I normally do, I wanted to show the prep, usually all prep is done at home. Typically, we pull them out of the cooler and throw them in the fire!
