This is a great video;And very helpful. I would also suggest as a matter of process, to solder HALF of the links closed BEFORE you link them together. They are much easier to solder that way and less likely to get stuck together. Lay them all out in a row, and pick solder them one after the other. The join two rings with a third to make threes, then join the threes to make sevens. I find this easier than adding each ring to the end, especially if the links are tiny.

Yeah, fusing is kinda hard to do but once you get it, it's worth doing. I have the best luck on round silver wire.

Hi! I am trying solder jump rings made of iron with an oxidized brass finish. I’m using a tiny bit of water soluble flux (oatey) and then a tiny piece of solder on top. Then using my soldering iron. They come out really uneven and the solder doesn’t flow…. Any ideas?!

Unfortunately it sounds like you're using all of the wrong materials and tools. For the most part you don't solder iron. I'm assuming the solder you're using is for plumbing or electronics which is not suited for jewelry because it's too soft. Soldering iron isn't going to work because it's not getting the material and solder hot enough and it would never be able to melt the proper solder that you should be using for this which is made of about 75% silver. To fix this problem you're going to need a torch, the proper solder, solid brass, copper or silver rings.

I just use hard silver solder for just about everything besides on gold. I normally don't care if I have a little silver line on copper or brass. Also if the solder joint is really tight it would be very hard to see.

Which torch tip do you use for fusing?

Size 3 for this size metal. You have to play with it and test it out to be honest

Do you use solider with gold too

Yes you do but you have to get the same kind of gold solder for your gold so it it's 18k yellow gold you should bet solder that is that same color
