quick tip when using silicone caulk: dip your fingertips in rubbing alcohol, and it won't stick to you for a bit. :) an old carpenter friend taught me that, from when he had to remodel peoples' bathrooms. it's enough time to let you smooth the caulk into a corner--and some folks use an ice cube to Smooth it....but that's not really prudent in this application here....

if you want to make a different type of cream do this: get hand lotion, baby powder, and any acrylic paint. Put some hand lotion in a small bowl, then but in some powder put more powder than lotion, then mix at the end when it is all mixed put in the paint. if you do this you can get a drying cream that is super easy to make also this takes about a day to dry
@homer123456789198 жыл бұрын
this is super soft like lotion also if you squish when it is dry it it turns into a colored powder

I've always just used straight caulking for making fake cream, it works pretty well for me. although if you use a lot of paint to color it it gets really melty and looses it's shape, maybe I could add a little bit of cornstarch to fix that?

If I were to use a hair dryer or leave the clay in front of a fan, would that speed the drying / hardening process?
@natepb8 жыл бұрын
I actually have another way to make fake whipped cream. You will want to get some liquid latex and a light colored or white conditioner. You want to measure out equal parts of liquid latex and light conditioner into a bowl and mix. About 10 seconds within mixing you will see that the mixture starts to look separated but keep mixing for another five or ten seconds or so until it looks creamy and is more stiff. STOP MIXING AT THIS POINT. If you keep mixing the mixture will clump up and solidify right away and the whipped cream will be ruined. For the next part you want to work quickly, if you want it to stick to a surface or you are using a piping bag. Transfer directly on to surface and let dry OR transfer to the piping bag and pipe on immediately. Let it dry for a few hours, or until it solidifies. You could speed up the process by using a hair dryer. It should stick to whatever surface you place it on nicely. Thank you very much for sharing with us!

Hi. Did you try it yet? I'm curious about these types of things too for making faux desserts for costuming & props to use in all different types of atmospheres (indoor & outdoor). I read in a comment or somewhere that using just this type of clay & water makes it end up still kind of "squishy" but it gets harder if you add glue as well into the mix (or include regular/white glue in). NO idea how they all turn out & how strong or brittle etc.. each are since I am still researching best method for my needs.

You don't have to. I have a cheaper way. You'll need: -shaving cream -baby/vegetable oil -flour/cornstarch but preferably baby powder -glue -coloring is optional First, incorporate equal parts glue and shaving cream Second, add your coloring at this point unless you aren't adding it Then add oil to make it shiny Finally, add the dry ingredients until the mixture isn't runny and holds stiff peaks. Hope this helped.
