I have been dragging my feet on getting out there. Thank you for this video. I was working on my contract just last night. I purchased a general photography contract from TheLawTog and was editing it for my use. My near-term goal is to find people I don't know to photograph and then my goal is this summer to be charging people for photography.

Thank you for this 🥰 So I might've jumped the gun here 😳 and got a EIN. RIGHT NOW I'm simply working on building my portfolio, getting marketing material, and building my knowledge, I'm not charging anyone or making any money. I've got my Facebook Page up and running (I'm scouting for 5 people to give free sessions to FOR NOW) and then continue taking photos of My family for marketing material. I'm working on my website, watching business videos, buying photography equipment (setting up a Women Cave lol) Where do I go from here? What's steps do I need to take? I'm still going to do free photoshoots for the next 2 months and I'm also wanting to get hands on experience from other amazing photographers (attending workshops and offering becoming a 2nd shooter in photoshoots for the experience, I've been working with other photographers for about a year exchanging tips and tricks for posing etc...) but I'm paving the way for me to actually make money from this hobby of mine (I'm in no rush and doing things safely before launching) Does getting my EIN means I registered my business? I don't expect to make a lot money so I don't have a number of how much I'll be making a year (I'm from a really small town) Any advise?

Hi Julia! First things first... I used your suggestions to reach to a model and she commented that she appreciated my professionalism with the format! She said that she'd love to work with me and that was mainly due to my using your suggested format! Thank you again! Okay, question... Do you used the mechanical or electronic shutter on the A7IV? Is there a way to get sound with the electronic shutter? I have silent shutter set to off.

Thanks on the video Julia. Do you think making your own business is more cost-effective in the long run, even in 2022, than being with the stock agencies? I've been with Getty/Istock for 10 years, but few years ago this business took a blow in terms of slashed prices and massive competition. And honestly, I never was a massive producer, I tended to care and put myself into everything I did. Nowadays, I struggle doing like that, as it's a numbers game after all. Thanks.

It really depends on what look you're after! If you like softer/film-like tones but still semi-realistic colours I personally really like Hazel or Earthy for that. For brown tones Amalfi is my go to and for a completely natural look either Aspen or Willow. If you want more help, please email me - I can show you some examples on your own photos!

I have a question lol I’m mainly a videographer & I wouldn’t dare shoot during the day without my ND Filter … why don’t I ever seen photographers using ND filters during the day ?? Or maybe I’m just not seeing it lol

I always use ND filters for video but not for photo. Most of the time I’m capturing portraits which means I’m taking photos of a moving subject. To avoid motion blur I want to be able to have my shutter faster rather than slower.

First essential should be a decent world without fictional pandemic and inflation where people actually need a photographer and most of all are ready to pay for this service. Expecially that nobody will pay attention to this so called "Call sheet" which is just another hassle and expence as I'm a man. Of course it looks cute when a person get it from You/a woman. Sad story :D Cheers!
