I was pretty young when this war was going on. Two members of my family served at that time. It sickens me that our sodiers were treated like dirt when they came home. Thank you all for your service. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

He said Frisco which is another way of saying San Francisco. Try the "Long Haired Country Boy," "The Legend of Wooley Swamp," or "Uneasy Rider"

Although I was never sent there, I was in the Army at the time. My response to being called a "baby killer" was the "standard hunter's response": "Lady, I can assure you that I NEVER killed a baby that I didn't intend to EAT!" That tended to shut them up pretty quickly.

Don't ever recall any politician getting piss splashed on him, spit on, called a war profiteer, or baby killer, even though they were the ones who benefitted and voted on everything to do with that "conflict'. Not war, because then civilians who've never been enlisted, let alone experienced combat, no longer have the power to make critical decisions concerning strategy and available tactics. God forbid the General of the Army, y'know the person who has been collectively considered the best leader and tactician within the Army, be in charge of preparatory enviroment training, deployment of troops to which locations, supplies, intelligence, recon, reinforements, and, oh yeah, actually fucking win as he has been trained to do all of his life and is considered the best among the best minds that is balanced by strict Minuteman principles. Rule Numero Uno for any politicians, current or former: you never share or split command! You need to get shit done, not debate over it because there is a whole self-writing laundry list of errands to accomplish. Can't get stuck making that toilet seat sparkle when you have to clean the whole barracks.

I forgot to say this, the Nurses who served in 'Nam to me are heros. Please take the time to see some of thier interviews here on youtube. When thier hospitals got attacked. The nurses actually covered the wounded with THEIR OWN BODIES!! Also, in the ER , if a wounded man couldnt be helped, a Nurse would stay with them, holding thier hand and such until they passed. THEY DID NOT LET THEM DIE ALONE!!! They also got treated like crap when they came home. They suffer PTSD also. Very brave women who deserve to be honored!!

Respect to all the Vietnam U.S. Veterans if I saw people dislocated from the body in person during the war I would think about that all the time and get bad dreams about it so I get all the veterans that have PTSD.

No, Charlie (or the writer) was talking about 'Frisco, as in San Francisco, which is often lovingly shortened to "Frisco". Charlie also did a couple of wonderfully funny songs about being a "longhaired country boy hippy" entitled, not surprisingly, "Long Haired Country Boy" (1974) and Uneasy Rider (very uniquely funny and appropriate, for the time ... 1973).

This is my absolute favorite CDB song. I come from a military family and I have uncles and cousins who served in Vietnam. My second cousin actually is a Congressional Medal of Honor recipient from that war. So much love and respect to those soldiers who gave so much only to come home and be basically thrown in the trash. Love the reaction and the fact that you’re teaching that young lady history through music.

The most realistic Vietnam War song. I went in the Army at the tail end of Vietnam, so I went to Germany. Vietnam Vets were treated horribly, and I have never forgiven the leftists. Many were in the jungle one day and in San Fransisco days later being spit on by radical leftists with their Mao T-shirts. Many were drafted, served their tour, and came back to a hostile homeland. However, most Americans were not anti-American, but the media portrayed it that way with their coverage. Every Vietnam Vet was treated like he was at My Lai. Nixon won huge then, remember. Carter pardoned all the deserters who ran off to Canada. Thank you for doing this. Shout out to Vietnam Veterans. They deserved better.

Your the first reactors to do this song that I seen. GOD BLESS YA for doin' it!! I am a veteran and Charlie Daniel's was supporting us when it wasn't cool to do so. When Desert Storm started , right before I went out to sea my mother told me " the Vietnam Veterans are on the news saying they will not allow us to be treated like they where when they came home" . The fact that they cared about us after how they where treated humbled me greatly, but also made me wanna make them proud . I love all my brother and sister vets....but the 'Nam Vets gotta special place in my heart.

My Dad was a POW in Korea, did 4 tours in Nam. Literally shook the hand of my older Brother as he was on his way to Nam. 11 Months 10 days later my Brother was KIA. I served 25 years in the Army. Europe South Korea. Iraq both wars the Stan.... I dont expect anything do not ask for anything. It sickens me how Political Leaders use Vets when to their advantage. As well as America does not remember or care about the Men and Women that serve. America today is not the America I severed.

This is the first video I've seen of you three ladies, but I like you all already. Great job with this video also. I am a civillian, so I can't speak to any personal experience serving, but I have read books, watched interviews, and I have a few relatives who served as well. One of my dad's brothers served in 'Nam but I never even knew about it until I was an adult, and then only because someone else in my family told me. I suspect that he, like many vets, wishes to leave that part of his life in the past. Not all of the soldiers who go through hell end up with PTSD but of course so many go through trauma which, really, when you give a 18 year old a gun and an enormous burden of responsibility while they also have to witness death and destruction all around, it's a wonder that there are as many well-adjusted vets as there are, especially the ones that didn't have a choice in the matter.

I was 11 in 1972. I saw the Vietnam War every night iny living room. I knew a few people who went. A couple came back relatively okay, but one came back came back a different person. It's a shame that the government has turned. a blind eye to it's Vietnam War vets. Thank you all for your service, and know you will not be forgotten by those ppl ld enough to remember, but too young to serve at the time .

As long as cameras 📷 were available Soldiers, have recorded combat & War. In fact, there were units specifically dedicated to this & Journalism. It was for historical record, but also used a Pro and Antiwar Propaganda and even Recruitment films. As a 55 year old American Male, watching these Combat clips make me wanna get back In uniform and Break some heads for Uncle Sam...it stirs you...I think he's saying "Frisco" as in San Francisco...keep in mind, the Anti-War movement, Peace activists (Whacko Liberals & Communists) and The late 1960s Music scene was born in The Haight (Haight-Ashbury). So, to me, Charlie aims to juxtapose the dichotomy of The Peace ✌ nics..smoking Pot, dropping acid (LSD) & grooving to the Grateful Dead vis a vis Brave America boys and men laying it ALL on the line in The 'Nam. I just subscribed..you ladies are awesome..Happy Thanksgiving Matt NYC

The condition was known as "shell shock" going back to World War 1. Doctors just kept changing the name of the condition instead of helping the men who needed it. In other words, they (doctors) where more concerned with labeling someone with a condition BEFORE treating them.

The video was well intended. HOWEVER, you ladies SHOULD have listened to the ENTIRE song THEN commented on it. You RUINED the intended message and effects of the song! Also being a Vietnam Era Vet, you ladies have NO CONCEPT(Like MANY others)of WHAT happened and went on! Unc Sam sent me to Korea instead of Vietnam (I never HEARD OF KOREA and had NO IDEA "WHERE OR WHAT" it IS OR WAS)! Similar atmosphere, different country. I have PTSD from the military.
