Depending on the intended use, I will agree with your statement. As someone who trains a lot and a former competition shooter I want a gun that will withstand hard usage. But for the worried single women, single mothers, older women who have lost their husbands, they just want something that will go bang when they pull the trigger in case of a home invasion. Women are waking up to the fact that they are victims of choice, and that they truly will be the first responders in their own crisis situations.

I was amazed at your choice of representative firearms! Years back, my own research led to my favorites: My Bersa Firestorm 380, my Henry AR-7 Survival Rifle, and a close second on shotguns, my Maverick 88 Security with a folding stock! I appreciate your live tests (with what I assume is your son) to confirm the handing and performance of each gun. Your comments reveal a true assessment of performance and not an appeal to the gun culture hype that worships certain brand names with an undue reverence. My ears are far from virgin (I was an LEO for 22 years - go figure!), and I must confess to having uttered most of them a time or three down through the years, but you don't cheapen your videos by including unnecessary "utterances," and that just adds to their curb appeal, IMO. I've literally clicked away from videos that I thought were going to be quite interesting due to the constant barrage of F-bombs and other "pirate language" they contained. People can use whatever "salty" language they want to use in their videos, but there's no requirement that I watch them, and I don't.

I was like wtf why they'd let me order it then!? xD but they were nice about it they let me just grab any shotgun they had In stock for the same price that I paid, and so I picked the Escort slugger instead :3 and i'm not disappointed. I have a Stevens 320 pump which I pulled out of a creek near where I was living. (Yes I went through local law enforcement and did everything properly) all I did was put the gun in evaporust let it soak, dry, put it back together lubed it with wd40 (all I had) and put 38 rounds of number 8 Winchester bird shot through it and never had any issues, stayed right and tight. Helluva shotgun.

The Savage Stevens 320 is my first shotgun and I still love it today. I bought it about 5 years ago and it came with a fiber optic front sight and a rear ghost ring sight. Not one hiccup to this day. Accurate as hell with slugs too. It is my only shotgun so I can't compare to others just yet. In fact, last week I ordered a Mossberg Mav 88 in FDE and I should have it in my hands by next week. I watched your Mav 88 video before purchasing and you were one of the reasons I chose the Mossberg.

I had a Maverick 88 as the first shotgun I had ever bought. I'd have rather went with the Stevens 320 even though I liked the M88. Traded it for a remote control car that I've never even ran once. PS: Buy yourself a really nice shotgun. Beretta A400... Benelli Nova... Why? Because what you'll end up with is a dozen cheaper guns and some oddballs. Meanwhile, you could have had a really nice one. Even a used high-end shotgun is a wonderful buy.

That was so cool watching the Henry spit out casings in slow motion.. After watching how well they shoot, I may have to go buy one of my own.. I have three Bersa handguns. .380 (Thunder). 9mm and 45 APC.. All three shoot fantastic and have shot 100's of rounds thru them with zero failures. Ok Mixup! Another great video! I've owned the Henry survival rifle, but never fired it. Sold it to a buddy who wanted it. I currently own three Bersas. The .380 has always been perfect (feeding and ejection) and is very accurate. It feeds factory ammo and my handloads without a problem. The .22 version (mine is an early '90s model) is great so long as you use the high velocity stuff (learned it the hard way). It never fails with the higher pressure brands. I shoot Rem.Viper and CCI Stingers & mini-mags almost exclusively, but it works ok w/cheaper bulk pack Win., Rem Thunderbolt and Federal stuff. Just expect an occasional hitch with ejection. It has smoothed up a bunch in the almost 30 yrs of ownership. It hasn't failed in a long, long time. My third Bersa is the Ultra Compact .45 acp. I've owned it for about 7 years. It has never once failed to feed, fire, or eject, and the ergonomics are perfect for my large hands. Bersa firearms deserve a much better reputation than they've been given. Bersa's are very accurate. I'd carry one despite being "low" capacity and a "weak" round. A Bersa Thunder saved a disabled friend of mine from a strong armed robbery. Getting that Bersa put in his face, with a "not today" being drawled by my slow talking friend sent that bad guy packing.

They are wonderfully made and a steal at that price point. I wouldn't consider .380 weak. That thing is modeled after the famous PPK which originally came chambered in .32 ACP- another underestimated round that did its job fine back in the day. People place too much emphasis on caliber and capacity when shot placement is what really counts.

Modern 380 is a perfectly capable round for self-defense, especially up close and personal, but I regularly practice out 25 yards and can make headshots every time. The 380 round is a solid choice in my opinion.

We have 2 bersa thunders. We love them. Great shooters, accurate. However, I wouldn’t consider them viable for carry…. Or defense…. Due to their penchant for lack of reliability. Yes, when you get it going… it’s fine… but the magazines do give out… and that’s where most of the failures with them come from.

Bersa Firestorm was the best “cheap” I regret selling to the kid at the range desk. Took a 9shot after market mag, accurate, easy to take down and ate every kind of ammo. Paid $250 five yrs ago. Too cool a pistol to pass up if you see one. Another fun vid, thanks so much for your reviews.

I have had one for years now. It is pleasant to shoot for long armed people like me because it has a long length of pull. It is accurate enough for what it is supposed to be. I don’t know if they have updated them any further since I got it, but mine likes the faster .22LR loads. I wish I had picked one up when they were still making them in silver.

I have a Bersa 45 Fire Storm). It shoots really well. I have a few friends that are gun snobs. If you don't buy an overpriced name brand gun than whatever you have is junk. Of course at the range they are silent as I shoot with my cheap junky guns (Bersa 45 and a Kel-Tec 380 as well as they shoot. I was told years ago by our drill instructor not to under estimate an enemy because they have cheap weapons because no matter what the weapon costs it will kill you as dead as the most expensive weapons you can buy.

If you kayak or canoe camp... Great little camp gun. Especially since it floats. Take along some snake shot. Run some high visibility duct tape around the stock to waterproof it and not lose sight of it.

Love my lil Henry survival as well. Polished up the trigger sear, put a piece of heat shrink around the trigger surface for your finger, added a tiny piece of stick on felt to the front of the trigger guard so the mag doesnt jiggle and its just a blast to shoot.

Funny I had a Charter Arms AR-7 it was a piece of crap. But it never jammed, misfired, failed to eject or any issue. Except the magazine's bent while loading.. But I was young and broke. It taught me a important lessen. The next month I purchased a Mossberg 500. Then in The early eighties I build up a lot of milsurp rifles. Good stuff cheap mostly American and German. Now I have a great collection of rifles and shotguns. Two M1 rifles, M1A, Ruger Mini thirty and 14. A bunch A few years ago I got 10/22 take down. The only guns I ever sold were the Charter Arms and some pistols because of NY laws. Thanks for the tip about southern Nevada. I have appointments with two realtors in December. One of those Henry 22 rifles has been in a log 🪵 out in the woods where I live for thirty years and it was hidden away for a escape gun or prep gun and it still shoots perfect I know the dude who hide it because he used to shoot with my gun group back in the day !

Over 25 years ago, I forfeited my deposit when I refused the Charter Arms militarized AR-7 that an FFL ordered for me. Ventilated barrel shroud, fixed front and rear sight, rough fit and finish and built out of light castings and plastic. Several years later, I disassembled a neighbor's older AR-7 and cleaned it. Made like a cap gun. One standard single slot , dome screw held the cast alloy receiver side plate on. When I lifted it off, everything fell out-not designed to disassemble, much less oil! Reminded me of the cast alloy cap guns I had as a kid. Henry also uses cast Zamac receivers in their .22 rifles-John in Texas

Gearhead. Why did you pull the sideplate? Just pull the cocking handle out at the groove & the bolt, return spring falls right out the front. ( bbl off) Spray it down with brake cleaner, oil it & reassemble. Easy.

Great shooting, guys! I really appreciate these budget gun videos, because the majority of my female students who show up are single moms, single students, widows, or a married mom with a stressed income. They show up with all kinds of budget guns, and by and large I have to say they run perfectly well. It doesn't have to be a competition model or a Glock that you want to put hundreds of rounds through every week, assuming you had the money. They just want something that will go bang when they pull the trigger in the case of a home invasion. I'm grateful that there are so many reliable economy guns out there!

Bought my first AR7 in 1976 for something like $75CDN, Trekked with me for years and was practically all the time in my pickup. Was shot mostly for plincking and shot so much ammo from it that chamber got worn out, Aluminum barrel steel lined but chamber part was no thicker than rest and with time it enlarged. Hope they fixed that part,. Got me an old Winchester single shot competition barrel and modified it, became even more accurate. Mike's used to make larger clips for it, a 25 and 40 round mags. Another mode existed, AR9 in 9mm caliber. Can be seen in James Bond movie "From Russia with love"

Snow in the desert in early October? Either a freak storm or Mixup 98 and Son. My donut's on the latter. I had a Bersa Thunder some years ago. It shot quite well, but it ONLY liked factory ball ammo. I polished the feed ramp, tried several "major" brands of JHP ammo, and worked all sorts of magic on my handloads in an effort to cure its indigestion, but to no avail. I sold it back to the retailer I bought it from. I really wanted that little shooter to work, and it did - as long as factory ball was the only item on the menu. Shotgun did itself proud. Same for the AR7-like survival rifle. Your GoPro sure is a brave little camera. Stay safe out there. Cheers.

I know a lot of people complain about the Charter Arms version of the AR-7, but I had one back in the early 80's and it was a really fun gun to shoot. Very accurate and reliable. It had the feature of floating if it went overboard because of the styrofoam filled stock, the Henry version won't. The Charter Arms version also had an aluminum barrel with a steel insert, not sewer pipe ABS plastic like the Henry, but that's one of the things that keeps the Henry price down so people can afford it. The Bersa reminds me a lot of a Walther PPK too. Thanks you guys for another great review of inexpensive guns for the masses out there.

Great shootin boys. This is why I keep my Maverick nearby when I am at the house. I think the target loads would do just fine stopping an intruder. My buddies dad still has shotgun shot in his knee from way back in the day. I forget the story, but some guy shot at him and his buddies when they were up to no good.

Have the 320, for those who want to run some kind of a side saddle and not cut up their fore end or TRY to make some other one work, get a fore end wrench, a Hogue fore end for a winchester 1300 and their adapter nut that extends the 4.5" ( or 4.75" ) slide tube to a more common length, for under $80 you can have a nice fore end and use a side saddle ( Velcro or otherwise ) that you don't have to alter anything, and I do mean anything, for it to all fit and function ( I have the part #'s, no grinding / cutting / sanding, and its sturdy, no BS ). Been wanting to get a Henry Survival for a little while now, it's on my " to buy eventually " list, I like the idea / design of it, and the history to it's existence is interesting.

I love my bersa Firestorm. Also they make nine round deluxe mags with bigger Pinky extensions that work great. I shoot it the most out of all my guns which makes it interesting finding ammo for the Little beast. Great work with the videos mix up

Nice video. But you forget to mention best budget pistol on planet,M57 7,62x25 Tokarev. That killer bullet go trough level3 protection police vest like butter. And pistol costs around 200,250usd. Make a video of M57 next time.

Hello Jacob. I like the Henry Survival rifle but there are better options available for your first gun. The Henry has crude sights and it's not really designed for high volume shooting. I would suggest that you take a look at the Rossi RS22 rifle, the Winchester Wildcat or the Ruger 10/22 rifle. I have reviewed all of them and they are rather inexpensive, reliable and accurate. Those early ar7's wasn't very good my one friends dad had one, it's funny cause a few years ago he bought a newer Henry one and haven't had any issues. Cool video and good shooting, always good watching you guys shooting together

You guys do a lot of shooting at that location and it always looks clean. Thanks, from one shooter to another, for always picking up your trash! Some of the videos on youtube showing where people shoot are horrible. They have basically turned a nice area into a trash dump.

Unfortunately we are seeing a lot more trashy areas around here that used to be nice and I refuse to shoot a video where there is trash. Finding a clean area is getting harder because of all the inconsiderate shooters that don't pick up their trash.

Not sure if anyone else knows but the stevens 320 security model will cycle shorty shells without any adapters. Just have to be very quick with the pullrack motion. So not 100% reliable cycling but they will cycle.

I did a review last year shooting my 320 with mini shells and although some of the shells would cycle I found they were to unreliable for me to consider using them in my shotgun.

My Hr has ports a red dot, mag extension and polished gate modifications for quick loading and polished feed ramp and barrel. My AR7 has a scope, steel barrel, polished feed ramp and barrel. Both were very cheap but are awesome guns.

The big problem with the Charter Arms AR7 is that the people could not read. The owners manual tells you to only use high speed 22s . If you did it worked perfect, if you used reg 22s it did not work well.

That doesn't explain why my brothers Charter Arms would fire full auto or why my bolt didn't close completely and the rifle practically blew up in my hands. And yes, we could even read back then.

I have the Stevens 320 field 12 gauge pump. It came with a 28" barrel. I paid almost $300 out the door. It's actually a great shotgun. I used it for deer hunting. I eventually bought a Remington 870 12 gauge. I use the 870 for deer hunting now. But I never had any problems with the Stevens 320!! I'd definitely recommend it to anyone who is on a budget and wants a 12 gauge.
