I was so mad at Anxiety 😬 while watching the movie… i guess cause I was mad that Anxiety was trying to make Riley betray her best friends for the cool kids/varsity kids.. cause it sorta reminded me of my own experience trying to impress the cool kids & being absolutely humiliated by them.. & I couldn’t help to think back to how my own anxiety, emotions got the best of me towards my own best friend when I got so caught up on my huge crush on the local hs’s former boys swim team varsity captain… That was months ago & we made up but it still haunts me sometimes till this day… i may not play a sport like Riley does but I did choir. So i know how riley felt.

As someone with a minor version of anxiety, I related too much to this. Overthinking, making fake scenarios, hyperfixating on something so much you forget to do other important things, ect. In reality, that's just your brain trying to protect you. And that was Anxiety's goal. So, yeah. I see exactly why she did what she did.

Emotions are supposed to be balanced. Too much of a single emotion is bad. Too much Joy leads to toxic positivity. Too much Sadness - gloomy/ depressed Too much Fear - Phobia Too much Anger - Anger Inssues Inside Out 1, Joy taking over the console and wanting Riley to be happy and won't allow other emotions to be felt which is a great portrayal of Toxic Posivity. In Inside Out 2, Anxiety does the same thing, but too much Anxiety crippled Riley. Both are trying to protect Riley but ended up hurting her. That's the lesson, all emotions are valid and needed to be felt. They're supposed to be balanced.
