The murder of Mr. Burns reminds me of the murder of Ken Rex McElroy of Skidmore, MO. in 1981. A thoroughly hated town bully, McElroy managed to beat the rap on 21 separate occasions (everyone was too afraid of him to testify.) Finally, the townsfolk confronted him in front of the D&G Tavern and he was shot dead in his truck. It’s estimated that there were 41 people in the crowd but only McElroy’s wife claimed to have seen the shooters. No one “saw anything” and to this day it has never been solved.

At this point, the Max Headroom hijackings will probably never be resolved, unless the perpetrators pull an L. W. Wright and decide to reveal themselves out of nowhere decades later. And as much as I love modern-day mysteries, learning about people who slipped away unseen, thinking up wild theories of who they could have been, marveling at how they've stayed untraceable as digital forensic analysis becomes more advanced...I hope we _never_ discover the truth of that particular case. The world deserves a good unsolved mystery.

@@theREALchriszito "LW Wright" was a conman who bought a stock car and somehow got to compete in the Winston 500, a professional NASCAR race, in 1982. They let him drive even though he clearly had no idea how stock car racing works and crashed during practice. He got flagged down for driving too slowly, finished in 39th place, and promptly vanished into thin air. He left the car at the track. My favorite part is that he didn't even use a fake name to do this. His actual name is Larry Wright, and they still didn't catch him for _40 years._

There is something even freakier that he did it twice, and the second time on a regular tv show. On the first one the audience had the anchors to talk to them and reassure them that it was weird. John Titor. In an infinite number of universes model, there is a universe where John's statements all came true. This would lead everyone in that universe to believe John was a real time traveler even though he was just F-ing around. Then again there is also a universe in which John was a real time traveler and because he made all those statements he altered the timeline of that universe so none of the statements came true.... maybe that was our universe.

Was just watching this after having it in my queue for a bit and for the Abraham Lincoln pancakes thing: I think the guy at 2:52:20 is remembering the same book I am. It was a book called "George Washington's Breakfast" that I read sometime in 3rd or 4th grade, which would have been in like... 2002-ish? It was about a kid trying to learn what George Washington ate for breakfast and it was intended to teach kids how to properly research subjects using library catalogs and primary sources and stuff. (funny coincidence for the lost media and internet mystery folks, I know) At the end of the book we find out he ate hotcakes/griddlecakes and the kid recreates some based on an old recipe using the tools that would have been used during Washington's time. Since Washington and Lincoln are the two most well-known presidents I can easily see someone getting confused and misremembering it as "a story about a famous president making pancakes". So that might explain where some of the confusion comes from, at least. As for the spike in 2004, I have no idea. Maybe it has something to do with the presidential election that year? Or maybe a new edition came out?

I really hate that common misconception of how when people say crap like most (95%) of the ocean hasn't been explored.. considering the military charts the oceans, especially for submarine navigation/warfare purposes, the ocean is pretty much explored.. However when it comes to science and public knowledge, it's just that the majority of the ocean, there's nothing significant to look at or explore, a random square mile part of the ocean/floor looks the same as random part of the ocean/floor hundreds to thousands of miles away, so explorers/researchers especially aren't going to waste millions or billions to look at pointless parts of the ocean where it's no different than parts already explored/researched for science. Really zero purpose or reason to explore [insert random ocean coordinate here] when it's likely not going to be any significantly (if at all) from parts of the oceans already explored. It's no different than exploring random parts of a desert compared to another random section of desert, all you'll see is similar or the same types of sand, dirt, and rocks..

@No Show I’m sure there could be an advancement in submarine technology that lets people explore with basically no concerns about water pressure. Though ideally that comes from design more than a new material because if it’s a design thing, we could make it out of cheaper materials, and let anybody with the time and money buy one and go exploring.

When i was younger, i had a girlfriend who lived a couple towns over. She had a very paranoid schizophrenic dad who had two large mastiffs and security cameras all around the house. I went to her house by bus since she was home alone. I got to her house and had to climb in thru a kitchen window to get inside. Im immediately greeted by the mastiffs, one tries biting my arm. My girlfriend at the time pushed the dog out of the way to not make me get bit and she quickly rushed me into her room. I was in utter horror when the first things i see in her room were used bloody tampons thrown all around her room. They are on her bed, under the pillows, on her nightstand, her make up station and her desk. Thats all

7:10 I definitely DON'T remember any lotto numbers. I DO however remember the scores of most Atlanta Braves baseball games from last year and if you put the schedule in front of me I could tell you with 99% accuracy who won each game even in the cases where I don't remember the exact score. And while it gets fuzzier the further I think back I could definitely tell you the outcome and score to at least a few games each year since 2005 which is about as far back as I remember actually caring about the scores of baseball games. And thinking of the top of my head I can list every world series winner going back to 1999 and if I thought about it for a while I'm sure I can go back to even before I was born. So if I'm ever time traveling I could definitely prove it.

Damnit, I _wanted to believe_ in the Time Traveler, and I was pretty on board until I saw the interview with the lawyer. Sounded totally suspicious to me when asked about the length of the Departure video. When asked the simple question, "How long is the video?" he repeats the question, then seems like he's trying to come up with an answer AS he's responding. "Oh, it's only a couple of minutes...blah blah blah. ." but then he's _certain_ that "[he] only saw two minutes" [very specific, and insinuating that it's longer and he just didn't see it]. Sounds suspicious to me. Bummer.

Also who would be naming their kid John in the year he supposedly came from? It's 2022, and every kid is named Aiden or Noah. Sure, names can come back into style, but it seems more likely that the dude picked a name that was relatively popular until the 2000s (when he made his claims) believing it was truly timeless, because he couldn't have known it was drop in popularity immediately after that because he was not an actual time traveler. Now if this guy had said in 1998-2000 that he was a time traveler and his name was Kai or Kayden, then I'd consider the possibility.

This is my second listen through. I just realized that that's safe video is from New York. Believe it or not my grandpa had a safe behind concrete in his basement. The story goes then. My dad's uncle was with the New York Mafia and some capacity. A few years ago we went back to the family house which has long since been sold and believe it or not the safe was already uncovered. Unfortunately the lady that now lives there had never paid a locksmith to get it open. After hearing my dad recount the story, she decided that she might get a locksmith to open it, but we never heard from her. But just like the story, I bet anything there's nothing in there. If the concrete was already removed and whoever knew about it would have come back for it. Also, as a funny twist I kept all the vacation photos including the house and the safe and the basement. on my old computer's hard drive which doesn't seem to work in my external drive anymore! Lol

I'm about 23 minutes into this and I always laugh about stuff that comes outta Coast to Coast. I've always thought it was a honey pot used by the CIA to make people who look into weird and suspicious stuff or "conspiracy theories" crazy. The fact people spent all this time and all these years focused on the first entry on this list kinda proves my theory.
