Justin just adjistin' the tier lists. As soon as I saw the top tier category, I thought of Brotherhood Cultists, and I'm glad you agreed.

Interesting way to assess how the scenarios have evolved, from tough enemies to more enemy interaction with other mechanics. Great list!

Amazing content, everyone's just ranking their scariness based on their designs, it's fun to look at it from a gameplay standpoint.

Excellent. I couldn't sleep today so I watched the whole thing. I'm ready to the Treachery one. Yes!

I saw the video and I was like "Brotherhood Cultist better be at the top of this list." And he is! He's terrifying.

One of the weirdest things I've found about swapping to hard is that Hunting Nightgaunt, which seems like a pretty balanced monster design, has become my bane. They're incredibly common early enemies that seem to come in pairs, require resources to kill quickly and don't go to the victory display after. Their stats and health are just high enough to always tax guardians who haven't quite accessed their superpowers and when something goes wrong, which it always does, they are stuck to you. Something like five campaigns straight I've thought I had a good build for this enemy and hit a -5 on a One-Two Punch or something equivalent and just spend the rest of the game behind and bleeding and mired in monsters. It's definitely bad luck, but they might be one of the highest on my list.

When it comes to "that" Heretic, I think it's perfectly fine to ignore the Forced effect "if you looked at this side by resolving the Parley ability". It's a similar case as with the original Miskatonic Museum and the (un)buffing of the Hunting Horror, or the untaboo'd Key of Ys - yes, it's clear what the intention was, but it's also clear what happens when you apply RAW. It works the way it says it works, not the way it appears to work or the way one might argue it should be working. At least in this game, where resolving tricky rule conundrums is basically Tuesday.

i remember my first playthrough of the base campaign with roland banks. i basically meditated at a empty location and waited for umordoth to show up. once he did i blasted him into the face with 2 shotgun shells and a full hand of cards to commit and he was toast. easiest encounter in the whole game. the scenario makes it really easy since u have to do nothing and just wait for the agenda to go on.

Ah yes.. In the Clutches of Chaos. Probably THE worst scenario we've played so far (we're up to half-way through TDE, blind playthrough of all campaigns).

Gonna get weird looks walking around today doing errands with a tier list in one hand but I gotta keep watching Edit: glad me and my fiancé solution to Silas wasn't cheating. We had a laugh at the solution being opening the basement door to hit him with a broom then slamming the door so he couldn't get out then opening it again to hit him again

Anything that requires spells, relics, etc. is in its own PITA tier. Even if it's not scary, it frustrates me. I'd love to see the same for peril cards (hint hint).

Justin! I feel you misinterpreted Avian Thrall. "While Avian Thrall is being attacked using a Ranged, Fiream, or Spell asset, IT gets -3 fight." This means the Avian Thrall. If you use a Ranged, Firearm, or Spell asset, the Avian Thrall becomes a 2 attack enemy. Considering it has 4 health, you likely aren't going to fight it just using your fists (RIP Nathanial Cho). So its really not as scary as what it seems.
@PlayingBoardGames2 жыл бұрын
I've fought Avian Thrall with just my fists with Nathaniel Cho. It's not too big of a deal and even in it's harder state, it's still manageable.

Wages of Sin is a brutal scenario. It's so hard and requires some pure luck to even get a semi-decent result. It's not even fun/hard. It's just oppressive.

Hi. I am half way through the video and new to the game so i will ask a question that is probably answered in one way or another. If you have a 2 2 2 enemy and the first two is fist and the last one is foot, why did they even have to draw the fist and the foot is they don't change? For me it would make sense that certain enemies can have a book or head instead of fist or foot. Since the game deals with supernatural forces, it makes perfect sense to me that some enemies will try to... say "mind control" you and therefore you don't fight them with fist, but head. Especially true for ghost types. EDIT: Lovecraft's stories have a lot of mental struggle in them and characters almost always have to deal with insanity so that's where i got the idea. It's not just scary monsters.END OF EDIT. Others can be "riddler" type of enemies that can be fought and dealth damage to by book. Same thing with the foot stat. There could be a mechanic where both fight and evade could be done with say head, but the flavor text makes you choose which one you want, because the consequences can be different. You could also "evade" a puzzle or w/e. Just a though. Another question i want to ask is - do you transfer your upgraded deck from one expansion pack to another or just from core to any expansion OR maybe you don't transfer at all? I ask because based on your video if i have to start unupgraded in Forgotten Age it would seem extremely hard (and yes i know the game is supposed to be extramely hard, but this is just extra)

Every time I've heard Justin say, "Welcome to the GOLDEN table", I was hearing something else. Something that I was shocked was allowed to be said on youtube. It was only this video where I saw the notification that I understood what Justin was actually saying.

Awesome video. Two points, I disagree on, though: You absolutely can attack an evaded aloof enemy, can't you? You have to reengage it, but you can do that, while they are exhausted. Web-Spinner vs. Wizard of the Order is not quite valid comparison, imho. For one, there are three copies of the spider. Wizards would be much more pressing, if there could spawn potentially multiples in one mythos phase. Second, they place their doom on their location, not themselves, which has three substantial drawbacks: it stays, when the enemy is killed, doesn't go away, when the agenda advances, and makes the skull worse. We had all three coming out in one mythos phase in a recent three player game, we still won, but I agree, Arach Nacha is really easy for an ancient one, the Web-Spinner on the other hand almost made the scenario go south. And they were scary as hell, when they came like busses. One of them even on a location, that gets a doom, if an investigator ends their turn there. I played Tony, but had a leg injury out, and could only kill the one on the bad location that round.
@PlayingBoardGames2 жыл бұрын
The bad design in my mind is that you can't attack an unengaged exhausted aloof enemy, not that it's impossible to attack them. It makes no flavour sense and shouldn't be the case.
@DrMcFly282 жыл бұрын
@@PlayingBoardGames I agree. It was a rule I was misplaying for a very long time, and one of the very rare cases where I think an unintentional rule mistake was actually improving the game.
