I can relate to the first story. A dentist in Cameron, Missouri, slapped me hard when I screamed as he pulled a molar before the anesthetic took. He clamped his hand over my mouth and threatened me. I was six. I never let my kids go into a dental office alone because of that experience.

I’m so sorry that happened to you!! I was berated by a dentist my mom took me to when I was 9. He kept saying I was a baby for crying when he was drilling my teeth to make a cavity bigger without any numbing and it hurt so bad. My mom was not in the room. I told my dad immediately and he removed me from the care of that dentist. We didn’t deserve anything like this.

I almost had a similar situation of a dentist wanting to take at least 7 of my teeth out but fortunately my mother accompanied me and we went elsewhere and found that he was doing it for money.

I went to a horrible dentist like that as a child, he threatened to pull out my tongue with pliers. He snapped them in my face and screamed at me for crying. That man had no business near kids. One of my sisters who was extremely shy and hardly spoke bit him and refused to let go until my mother came in the room. He was extremely abusive and my mother never believed me or my sibs when we told her what he was doing. He never let parents in the room while he worked either. His wife was the office manager and she saw how abusive he was and turned a blind eye to his behavior.

I've never, not once been told I couldn't accompany my child during any dental/orthodontist appointment. The only exception would be the surgical part of her wisdom teeth extractions, and I was there for everything from the i.v. to the recovery otherwise. I can't imagine being told I couldn't go back with her and complying.
@pamalawashington93715 жыл бұрын
I would never, under any circumstances let my daughter go back with a dr without me. Believe me, she has had hundreds of office visits, hospital stays and surgeries to show this. I do not stay with her during surgery, but up to the point that they sedate her. When hospitalized, I've only left long enough to shower, and I always arrange to have family member with her during this time. I don't allow any labs or meds without my knowledge and approval, and this has saved her life! Drs and medical professionals aren't always right. I've caught things that they didn't, which saved her life, have made friends with many of her drs, and she has many. The good ones appreciate a parent that is involved and that advocates for their child! I've had one dr ever try to keep me out, and she wasn't successful, and she was replaced. Honestly, my child wouldn't be disabled now if not for a dr's negligence, and not taking me seriously when I knew something was terribly wrong. Please think about that, and never allow a dr to be left alone with your child.

There is actually videos of parents who snuck into a dentist office recently that was on dateline. He was doing exactly what the first story said. What was said in the story doesn't even get the tip of the iceberg these poor children were put through!! 90% of pediatric dentist's will let the parent in the room and usually if the child is small you can hold the child in your lap while they do cleanings and such. This should be the first clue for the parent!!!!! Idk if it's the same dentist as in the story but the videos I saw literally made me cry it was tortious just to watch let alone having been the child or patient. When you get caught staring at someone naked: Ight ima head out
My dad is a dentist and runs into a lot of stories of dentists doing unnecessary procedures on children. It really is horrific. They call my dad the gentle dental giant. My mom plays with the kids until it’s their turn and parents are allowed to look through the open door.
@lindamoser63177 күн бұрын
When I was a young child my mom was taking me to a dentist that truly was mean. I was scared of him. I told my mom but she thought it was the natural fright kids get just mentioning the dentist. But she felt something must be going on since I was so scared of him. She walked in while he was working on my teeth and heard him. She immediately took me out of there. When I met my new dentist I was so scared I asked him not to give me injections if he had to drill. He couldn't believe it but he did as I asked. I sat there good as gold for him. It was years before I had to have dental work done that required numbing. The dentist told me I had to have it so I relented. Imagine my shock when the injection wasn't anything. All that time that means that dentist had hurt me several times badly and I thought that was normal. That's why I didn't want the injections. To find out they r not that painful really pissed me off about that first dentist. I hope karma got him. He must of really hated kids. I did love my second dentist tho. I even drew pics of patients with their mouths open getting teeth worked on lol.

I used to get nervous about my little sister living alone in Nassau county as a nurse in training. As a protective older brother I asked her if she had pepper spray/pocket knife/ solid door locks & what her plan is if something goes bump in the night… she confidently assured me it’s all covered. When I visited her apartment I personally inspected everything finishing with “what happens if someone breaks in?” (She lived near a train station) she tells me to open the closet where I find a loaded 12 gauge next to a compound bow and as I turn around she’s already pulled another loaded 12 gauge from under her bed with a big smile. Needless to say if there’s an uninvited guest she’ll happily blow their guts out then render aid while LEOs are en route. That said, I don’t worry nearly as much as I used to. Even less now she’s happily living in a new home in a serious relationship with a bear of a man who’s equally enthusiastic about personal defense.

Always ask questions, stay with your children and ask questions about your children's experience ANYWHERE, ESPECIALLY doctors/dentists offices!! I was abused by my dentist Dr Fisher with unnecessary fillings and dental work. Also, the painful Novicain, NEVER numbed my mouth and he was angry and often made my dental situation MUCH worse!! My mom never believed me. Year's later, when my friend had took her daughter's to a pediatric dentist, he didn't want me to go back with my 2 yo and 6 yo. #1 Red Flag ....I, who am very hard of hearing, could hear my son screaming hysterically. This was extremely out of character for him and when they came out, my daughter said she didn't want to go back. This was out of character for her, as well. I was livid, and at his consult, after the visit, I had my friend take my kids to the car and, he started immediately bad mouthing my kids to me. Let's just say, I think the rest of the parents in the waiting room gathered their children and never went back and the dentist wasn't in practice for very much longer.
@DaveTexas2 жыл бұрын
That first story could have been about my childhood dentist. My dentist didn’t believe children needed anesthesia, so I had lots of dental work done with no Novocain. I distinctly remember him telling my mother it was normal for children to scream throughout all dental procedures. Of course, I tried very hard not to scream because I was told that he’d keep me in the dental chair longer if I screamed. I also had a pediatrician who was really nice when a parent was in the room, but who would tell me to shut my stupid crying mouth when he was alone with me. My brother actually almost died from Scarlet Fever because he had a sore throat (Strep) that he didn’t tell anyone about because he was so terrified of going to the doctor that he’d rather be in excruciating pain than have to see that pediatrician. We’re both still traumatized by these experiences, more than 40 years later,

He died last year. It was actually ridiculous they chose not to prosecute saying the rich dentist wasn't competent to stand trial. Bullshit. You see people who have legit mental illness they refuse to give that defense to, but for him they just let it all go with ease? Money. Dr. Howard S. Schneider was his actually name (and not at all attractive as the story person says, maybe her abuse happened early in his practice before he became an old man)

So this story starts off with a group of my friends at a party we showed up late to. It seems that most scary story's has alcohol involved. We showed up and It was already bunk, everyone had been drinking for the last few hours. We stayed and bullshited for about a half an hour. we drank enough shots to catch a good buzz. It was about 1:00 am and everybody was having good time. Out of the of the blue the tribal cops just had to ruin the party like every cop does. I forgot to mention I live on the rez. There really is not a lot of street lights. houses are really close together, So there's really not much light coming off of them either. A lot of parents don't like there kids out at dark. Its because there are a lot dark things that come out. There are story's of GoatMan running behind cars, chasing people at night. Even people get abducted in some cases. The Rez I'm situated on Has a lot of small hills and grasslands, also plains. Its very hard to say but after we looked at each other we knew we had to run out the back door and into the fields. My two friends were a little slower than I was. So I took the easy way running down the hill to that little pond, Alot of people call it Kidds Pond. As I looked around. I can friends were about 100 yards away from me running over the hill. I was by myself waiting for the cops to leave the house we just ran from. I can see everything from were Im at rite now. I must of been about 75 yards away from the road with 3 lonely houses in my view at the moment. All the other ones were really far from those I seen. About 15 mins went by when I heard faint sounds coming way behind me, In that second I thought to myself "There my friends are". 3 seconds had passed. It now sounds like horse hoofs running at top speed behind me catching up at a rate I can't even explain. At that moment I knew...It was GoatMan My heart dropped. Fear and adrenaline kicked me into something only you get when your getting shot at or about to die. I Sprinted strait forward into the first house that was closest to me. I'm now hyperventilating in my sprint tripping, Rolling over weeds and bigger rocks just thinking I'm gonna die. I'm getting really close to the road still hearing those horrible hoofs. All of a sudden, I'm stopped dead in my tracks about 15 feet from the road. I was close-lined by a barbed-wire fence from the waist down. I felt nothing and turned my head around to see or hear anything, I starred into the dark fields looking for any horse or glowing eyes, my friends. Anything to explain what I just experienced. NOTHING... I calmed down for a few seconds. I lifted up my shirt to find a few gashes on my body. Only few stitches I thought. So I hopped over the fence and walked back to the the house not giving a Damn about the cops. They were now gone and my friends also showed up soon as I did. I asked why they ditched me? "Bro you ditched us, Why are you bleeding" he said.. You wouldn't believe me even if I told you... The next day came. I thought about were I a was at that time when it decided to stop chasing me. I noticed that it stopped right when I ran into that wired fence. I really could just picture GoatMan laughing at me after running into that fence, I have to admit. It was really close to the street light,That light probably saved my life that night..

@gingereden5463 жыл бұрын
I never understood why people who hate kids would go into a profession dealing directly with them. I chose to work in accounting and do most of my paperwork over night. I never liked kids and can't handle being around them, so I was very specific on what I chose for my life as to not involve me with them. Its really simple, if you hate something, just stay away from it. Its the same thing as people who adopt animals and then abuse them, ill never understand it (I do love my pets, just no kids for me). I feel bad for my husband because he always wanted a family, but he knew long ago when he married me, by being with me, he was making the choice to let that idea go. He finally understands how deeply it goes since I cant even stand watching movies that have kids in it, he relented. We all should be self aware enough to know if we dislike something and be responsible enough to do the right thing. I think people like the dentist and other abusers do it for sadistic pleasure

For anyone who struggles to get their local police officers to their location, I have a friend of mine who is a police officer, however he’s a good guy not the lazy kind. He let me know that the quickest way to get a police officer to your location is to tell the 911 dispatcher that you have a knife, and that you were trained to use it. Unfortunately you have to sound like you are a much more larger threat than the person who is either stocking you or who’s trying to get into your house. My friend let me know that police officers hate doing paperwork, so they will rush over as quickly as possible so they don’t have to do paperwork. Please take this advice because it worked for me. There was a man that was banging on my door, I had no idea who he was, when I called the police nobody was coming, so I called them back again and I lied to them and told them I have a knife and I promise I will use it. Send someone out here or I’m using it. They sent someone out immediately, however they scared the man off but it worked. Please, please take my advice this works every time.
