3 hurt after hot air balloon accident in Williams

Authorities said a sudden gust of air increased wind speeds to 40-50 mph. The balloon detached from its anchor point, crashing into buildings and other objects.

Hot air balloons can only rise when the outside air is quite cool to cold, as it is in December and January in Arizona, as hot air rises. This is why there is no hot air ballooning in Arizona in the summertime. It's just not feasible. Long ago, I bought my parents an anniversary gift of a champagne breakfast hot air balloon ride months in advance (summer), and the company explained that their flight season would not start until December as the air had to be cold in the early morning. My parents loved it. Those companies do not even try in summer temps.
