Here are three essential camera settings and what they control:
1. **Aperture (f-stop)**:
Aperture controls how much light enters the lens. It's the opening in the lens that can be widened or narrowed. A larger aperture (lower f-number, like f/1.8) allows more light in, which is helpful in low-light situations and can create a blurred background (shallow depth of field). A smaller aperture (higher f-number, like f/16) lets in less light, keeping more of the scene in focus (deep depth of field).
2. **Shutter Speed**:
Shutter speed determines how long the camera's sensor is exposed to light. A fast shutter speed (like 1/1000s) freezes motion, great for action shots, while a slower shutter speed (like 1/30s) can create motion blur, ideal for capturing the flow in waterfalls or nighttime lights. However, slower shutter speeds often need a tripod to avoid camera shake.
