I've been training for about 8mo at a MT gym. It's very hard to come over the top of a clinch for an elbow. He makes it look so easy.

Does anybody have any advice for beating stronger opponents in the clinch, particularly if they are taller than you?
@แรงมาแรงกลับ-ไม่โกง6 жыл бұрын
1- You should try to sweep them as fast as you can. 2- You can try to find the chance to throw the elbow strike even before they can grab you or doing it while in the clinch like Petchboonchu. In muaythai basics they always say elbow is a counter for knee.
@hansmatheson59764 жыл бұрын
Okay, listen up... ..to ensure victory against your opponents, regardless of how much taller, stronger, sexier or well endowed they are.. You only need FOUR things; famously coined as: **The 4 S’s 2B the BESTEST** Steroids! Sex change! Stilts! Sidearm! Alternatively, I guess you could train and get good at using double under hooks, focus on learning a variety of effective sweeps, training so your timing for those sweeps/trips becomes muscle memory (and therefore actually effective) and other techniques to improve ring control/escaping the clinch quickly when it does happen. Though, the main goal should be learning skills that will help you reduce the amount of time you are in the clinch by avoiding it by improving: lateral movement, low kicks, finding angles, controlling range with teeps, effective feinting, hand traps, parrying, etc.

5 years late, but... Good leverage with the plumb clinch and a horizontal knee across the hips will keep you pretty safe until you are seperated, you can escape, or sweep.

Mark Lord way more disrespectful. In Thai culture the bottom of the foot is considered the dirtiest part of your body. So then you slam it on someone's face it's super disrespectful.

They wont. China has already invented Sanda to absorb their Chinese fighters once they return from training in Thailand; The Dutch have invented Dutch kick boxing to absorb any europeans who return back from training in Thailand; Americans and others train in MMA but learn striking techniques in Thailand, will rarely mention the gym they trained in while in Thailand once they return back to America...

Peter Meter -triggered They worship thailand and the gyms so much so that they put their gyms as their last name? How often do westerners do that? Rarely Are you denying that dutch took from Muay Thai and now just call it dutch kickboxing? That Sanda is just appropriation of Muay Thai but that they claim it as their own?
