Thank you Filipa! ♥ I use soy wax and melt it creating a doubled boiler (water in a saucepan and a glass bottle with the wax), once everything is melted I let it cool a little bit before putting the essential oils. If you can find waxed wick (pavio encerado), much better :) Wish you the best for this new year!

I always fight with those much unwanted butterflies too, although I don't like to put up nets I now feel I have to because I really don't like caterpillars in any form or shape..but I do love fresh cabbages fresh from the garden..

Yo también disfruto haciendo velas cuando tengo tiempo libre (algo positivo que saqué del confinamiento) y quería preguntarte algunas cosas. ¿Que fragancias usas? ¿Recomiendas algun tipo/marca en concreto? ¿Hechas muchas gotas? Aún no me he animado a hacerlas con fragancia por todo esto jaja. Por otro lado quisiera saber si el hilo que usas como mecha tiene alguna impregnación o algo para que prenda bien o es simple hilo. Y ya por último (I promise) los recipientes, al igual que las tazas del café y algunos platos/boles que se ven en los vídeos los has hecho tu, verdad? Con que los haces? Muchas gracias!!! 💚

Hola Laura, pues con aceites esenciales es muy fácil y con un 10% del volumen total es suficiente. Yo no uso una marca en concreto, voy comprando según los necesite y los vaya encontrando por buen precio. Para estas velas usé un hilo de algodón que pre-encere yo misma, pero los hilos encerados aguantan mas la mecha. Y si, los boles los he hecho yo usando "earthenware" es el nombre en inglés :)

I am a Portuguese American and have visited Portugal and hope to still realize that long ago dream of living there. ♥

This is lovely as is the photography. I would just like to give my perspective on what was referred to as “pests” and a “jungle”. I find that many gardeners are in an adversarial relationship with Nature. The crops we grow to feed ourselves (myself included) are mostly annuals. Just in that we’re working against Nature. Now, it only makes sense that life will thankfully try to perplex itself. The white cabbage butterfly caterpillars you show on the collard greens are just that. I take the leaves that have the eggs or the caterpillars and take them inside. It’s a beautiful thing to help other life flourish; to wake up to a butterfly and, most importantly, to give back as opposed to using the land and sharing nothing. Perhaps you’ll consider this in the future. Kind regards.

I bring in both the great white and the small white cabbage butterfly caterpillars as well as the Oldworld Swallowtail and the Red Admiral caterpillars. It’s such a gift waking up to a beautiful just hatched butterfly!
