The MACD can be adjusted according to the chosen timeframe, and combined with a suitable EMA. Changing the MACD periods is not "custom" tool.

For higher time frames, such as the daily time frame, I would suggest not modifying the settings of the normalized smoothed macd and to just keep the default settings. When I compared to the regular macd on the daily time frame, it was almost identical with the modified settings. When I changed back to default, it had signals that were earlier and than the standard macd in the daily time frame. Thanks for your videos mate!

Hi brother. Thanks for the wonderful work you are doing and providing us with such knowledgeable content. Love your work... Based on the knowledge I gained from you and others I've come up with a strategy combination that's giving good results. I use Trend Meter as the entry indicator, the HVI as the volume indicator with divisor set at 1.6 and the volatility switch oscillator by lazybear as a momentum and volatility indicator. Entry rules are all 6 dots of trend meter r same color, volume is available in the HVI and the volatility switch above the dotted line for momentum entry confirmation. Risk to reward ratio is 1:1.5 with SL at the nearest swing high/low. I think this combination covers all bases like entry signal, volume confirmation, volatility and momentum confirmation. I'd love your thoughts on this and if you could reply to my comment with your opinion. Thanks...

there is a right way and a wrong way to use MACD. Understanding exactly what MACD is and how it functions can help you avoid losing trades. At the end of the day it is just showing you what the price action is. ? Is the price near a low or high.... near or in a consolidation zone. Is MACD printing red and price green in a bearish trend that has stalled out? If price breaks EMA 9.... i would seriously consider buying that. and then watch MACD come back to the 0 line and probably go green. MACD divergence is another great way to actually use MACD. You won't see it very often but when you do. Pay attention. Just trading on MACD signals. Not profitable. Been there...done that. lost $.
