I will always glaze phial of galadriel. There's so many more applications for it outside of when you are empty handed at the start of a turn. You rummage away the last card with thrill of possiblity, you draw from empty from an effect like with castle locthwain after dumping your hand in the middle of the turn, or when you wheel or timetwister. All of those effects also net you extra cards. It's also legendary so it's got extra benefits such as chucking it into mount doom or any of those legendary matters commanders.
@Shimatzu952 күн бұрын

A few of my pet 3-mana rocks are Bonder's Ornament, Kyren Toy, and Heraldic Banner. Bonder's Ornament is a pretty easy include as ramp and draw in colors that aren't the best at it, and Kyren Toy is an admittedly worse version of Gleaming Stockpile, but hey, sometimes you're in a combo deck without red and that mana storage can be handy. Heraldic Banner serves as a nice anthem effect in either mono color decks or decks with a Commander that poops out tokens like The Locust God. Honorable Mention to Midnight Clock, which is just over $5 and is hardly a secret offmeta pick everyone knows how strong this card is, and Bandit's Haul, which is cheap and periodically draws you cards if you're poking your opponent's stuff.

Every time I play Bonder's Ornament it's such a good card - mana rock 99% of the time but when I'm flooded it draws cards and every now and then somebody will copy it and feed you some extra card draw because they're flooded. Network Terminal is really good too, assuming you reliably have other artifacts on board and don't mind binning cards. They're easy to slot into just about every deck. I'd run Sonic Screwdriver in more decks if I could find more copies but the Dr. Who stuff is scarce around here. Oh and fwiw, Bounty Board is easily the best card in the deck for that "Shay Cormac" Assassin's Creed card. It's an evil bastard of a deck, but Bounty Board really keeps it humming feeding you life, cards, and a little good PR in a deck where everybody will absolutely hate you lol

Skyclave Relic's kicker ability is an etb effect, so it works with Elesh Norn MOM. It gives you 2 extra (total of 5) relics if you have MOM on board, but if someone else has MOM on board then don't pay the kicker cost because you'll be paying 6 mana for just the one rock.

There's a few cards that ask you to pay "Mana from a treasure" for something and Glittering Stockpile is a nice rock in decks that want to be doing that. I think Patriar's Seal is worth consideration in quite a few decks. Agility/Endurance/Intelligence Bobbleheads are goodish standalone cards. Patchwork Banner and Heraldic Banner can be good for decks that make a lot of tokens. Relic of Legends is kind of insane sometimes. And people know Worn Powerstone is good, but it deserves to be mentioned.
@Phonk-vo4oi2 күн бұрын
Great video! It really takes a great next step from Snails take last year, I think it would be interesting to see you critically evaluate the drawbacks of the cards you suggest to give tips on why you wouldn’t use it in decks, Misleading signpost is an all star mono blue rock but due to it costing and creating blue mana anything beyond that just gives it too many stumbling blocks for example. A defence for 2 mana rocks is they can be fetched way easier if you’re playing a heavy tutor strategy. In the last year I’ve been experimenting with removing all unconditional/fast tutor effects to give way to the high volume of cards we’re getting. Be cool to see your opinion of increasing variance in decks, personally it keeps games fresh and gives me way more enjoyment in the long term and space to keep iterating.

I love how many interesting effects exist on the 3 mana rocks! Cursed Mirror is by far my most played one, but Ancient Cornucopia is great as an incidental lifegain piece in multicolor decks, Bandit's Haul puts in work as a slow advantage engine in decks with a lot of interaction, and Progenitor's Relic is neat in Kindred decks to suprise flash in a Lord or other effect. Also, I would love it if someday the "dragon Monument" cycle gets completed with the enemy colors, those are real fun to play with at very low power level tables! Thanks for the video, I will definitely be looking into adding the Misleading Signpost to one or two of my slower blue decks!

Victory Chimes is a personal favorite mana rock in my Alela, Cunning Conquerer deck. As long as you tap it every turn you get access to much more mana considering that you’re playing on everyone else’s turns, and if somebody needs a mana, it’s a wonderful bargaining tool.

Manascape Refractor is one of my favorites. There's so much utility there just being able to borrow *any* abilities from lands on the board and at worst it's a Fellwar Stone that can see your lands too. I also like Bandit's Haul from OTJ in any deck that has a commander that targets opponents stuff. I most recenetly put on in Nelly Borca but there's a ton of commanders that repeatedly target opponents stuff. Midnight Clock is also really cool but sometimes I don't consider that a mana rock because it goes away after a couple turns.
@pyrojack8230Күн бұрын
I'm surprised you didnt bring up Replicating Ring. Its the perfect middle ground of "Make a ton of mana rocks" that Skyclave Relic is used for and "Proliferate so it pops off faster" that Glittering Stockpile wants to do. For those who arent aware of what it does, for 3 mana you can tap for any color of mana and on your upkeep you put a counter on the card. Once you reach 8 counters, on your upkeep, you sacrifice Replicating Ring to make 8 ARCANE SIGNET TOKENS! With Token Doublers or proliferate spam this can pop off in some very unique ways AND they tap for Snow mana.

The locket cycle is also a decent option if you're playing those colors because you can trade them in the late game to draw two cards. Altar of the Pantheon is a good option if you're focused on Devotion effects, it also has minor life gain if needed. Bonder's Ornament is an option for low drawing color combos like White and Red. The bobblehead cycle is another really good cycle if you kind of focus on that sub-type, this is an 'all or none' type of mana rocks. Cultivator's Caravan can be an interesting option as a late game beater, you could use creature you don't want to attack to power it. Heraldic Banner and Patchwork Banner are great in creature heavy decks of a certain color or tribe respectively. Laser Screwdriver is similar to Sonic Screwdriver but helps out different strategies. Orazca Relic is a good late game one off draw and life gain. Patriar's Seal and Relic of Legends are great with heavy amounts of legends in the deck. Rotating Fireplace and Strixhaven Stadium are great additions to any proliferate deck, Fireplace gets a ton of mana while Stadium can just win you the game.

Personal favorite, and imo most generally powerful 3 mana rock is Midnight Clock. The entire use case of ramp is to help you play out your cards. All mana rocks do this to a greater or lesser0extent, but after you've played out your cards, you need new ones. No other mana rock gives you new cards at a rate as efficiently as the clock, and the delayed wheel effect gives you time to play out the cards in hand beforehand to maximize the value off the wheel. The only place I'd hesitate to use it is in decks that are extremely deep into graveyard centric strategies, but even there it's not as bad as it looks. Hourglass of the lost and Forger's Foundry are also 2 that look promising but I haven't been able to test. Paying a worse rate for ramp in exchange for stapling card advantage to the rock is probably the best case scenario for 3+mv rocks, and both can potentially enable extremely explosive combo turns.

Delving into PDH has really given me an appreciation for 3 mana utility rocks. If you are in an artifact heavy deck (Or really any deck with how easy artifact tokens can be made now), Network Terminal should be an auto-include. The ability to cheaply loot a card by tapping an extra Treasure or Clue token CANNOT be understated! Honored Heirloom is excellent, granting you repeatable graveyard removal on a mana rock. The two Screwdrivers from Dr. Who have a lovely array of utility effects that should always find some use. Laser being able to goad a creature is peak.

A nice partner to Unstable Obelisk is Honored Heirloom. (It's a 3-mana artifact. Can tap for any color. Pay 2 and tap it, exile a card from a graveyard.) When including removal options in a Commander deck, I always find it necessary to at least have 1 piece of land destruction and at least 1 piece of graveyard hate just in case you find yourself in a game where you REALLY need that kind of interaction. Land destruction is pretty easy to include in your mana base with stuff like Ghost Quarter. And graveyard hate can come in the form of Scavenging Grounds. But if you have some really tight deck building restrictions for whatever reason, there's always Unstable Obelisk and Honored Heirloom to fall back on.

Hourglass might have been a miss on this list! It seems good I just haven’t used it enough to rate it properly

Surprised at no mention of Strixhaven Stadium for wide and/or evasive decks. Besides that I do love almost all of these. I plan on acquiring The Celestus for a deck that may end up running a few other Day/Night cards (oddly, no transforming ones!), so the tracking won't be meaningless, at least.

I might have missed it but you seem to have not talked about how phial of galadriel gives you an extra card off of wheel effects...

I've been playing since August, my favorite mana rocks I found is Crowded Crypt. I run it in a zombie token Caesar deck and it is great for turning all the mooks I sacrifice during a game into a second army to throw at my opponents. But it doesn't quite count for less than a pack depending on the condition going from 3.20-9 dollars plus tax on TCG player.

The one that I've use a lot is Decanter of Endless Water. As the third option when the deck has massive draw mechanic.

Thanks reminding how good Sonic Screwdriver is, I have one but not in a single deck. I have almost all these rocks in some of my decks. Some other great 3 mana rocks are midnight clock it's great at start and late game, since you can tick it faster to draw new 7. Cursed mirror, you get best creature on the board with haste and goes around hexproof/shroud/ward. Relic of legends feels like 2 mana rock. Strixhaven Stadium is amazing in token decks to knock those life gain decks. I think people are sleeping on Scampering Surveyor, sure it's technically worse Solemn Simulacrum but there are some utility caves to search for, discovery lands, there is also one cave that can get rid of nonbasic land (cabal coffer, Glacial Chasm). If you play etb/blink with no green, it might be worth to add to deck along with Solemn.

Hourglass of the Lost from MH 3 command is just a Mass reanimation spell stapled to a mana rock that hits all nonland permanents. - $0.45 tap add white put a time counter on. tap Remove X time counters from Hourglass of the Lost and exile it: Return each nonland permanent card with mana value X from your graveyard to the battlefield. Activate only as a sorcery.

I like the Borderpost cycle from Alara Reborn. They aren't super amazing, but can be utilized in certain decks.

Misleading Signpost sounds great. Decks with a lot of interaction should also consider Bandit's Haul from OTJ for good incidental draw power

don't forget about Dragons Hoard if you are playing a dragon deck. mana rock that taps for any color as well as allowing you to draw a ton of cards

the Carnelian Orb of Dragonkind does massive work, tapping for red and granting creatures like Dragonhawk haste

My favorite mana rock of 2024 is seance board. The most I've tapped it for so far is 7 in my Vren deck. Bonkers.
