I have to say the second, because it stimulates the elbow being always in front of the body.

What about the lead elbow. Is it pointed at the target? What position should the lead arm be in to start the swing? How does it move throughout the swing?

What about the left elbow position at address? It seems like too many people turn it towards the target instead of towards the lead hip. Thoughts?

The dominant arm (normally the trail arm) can get you in so much trouble on the backswing! hope this helps everybody get their backswing on the path of the least amount of manipulation through impact!

Love your content! You are going to blow up with these super practical tips. I’ve been binging your videos. QQ - whenever I keep my elbows close, I feel tension which I thought was a bad thing. Is that normal?
@GolfPitt6 ай бұрын
Thank you so much! I appretiate that! Your spot on tension that is not anything good to have in the golf swing. at your set up position, get your elbows close together and pretend there was a balloon that was blowing up between them and you have to keep it in there. Anytime someone is trying to do something new. It is possible that tension kicks in. The elbows should be soft and together! Thank you so much for watching!

Mike, i have a question. When my lead arm-elbow is too internally rotated I tend to pull draw/ hook the ball. When i feel my elbow in the leadarm is pointing more to the target line at adress (more like the opposite of what I described) the clubface feel more stable/ more consistent…less flippy so to speak. Can you explain this to me? 😅
@grahamjones73716 ай бұрын
Luckily Hogan book was 1st goll book i read so i have the elbows and arms! but then Ballard was next and full swings with stuff under armpits gave me an over connected heaving sway! Now i just push right side down to start swing then left side works like you show Mainly use chest as swing engine but use ground pressure to start it and reverse it Resulting in harnessing more vertical forces than i used to and less rotational and lateral My experience is that "connection" is an illusion caused by good sequencing and avoiding the arm hit instinct! Every great golfer learnt as a weak kid,all at my club with a lower Hcp than me did as well so imagine the club is very heavy! Expect to shoot 1st sub par this year b4 im to old! Thanks for all the great videos
@GolfPitt6 ай бұрын
that is great you’re finding the recipe for your swing! This is your year! Your spot on, and the connection is a result of sequence. Sequences of the backswing, or downswing players will be stuck playing catch-up, the rest of the way. One of our Training Aides is the momentus it is that 2 pound heavy club and swinging that club in slow motion not full speed and stoping at key points is so good for the golf swing! Thanks for watching! Let me know what you need for your journey to break par !

@@johnaustin635 The only things i know about golf are 1 that great players learnt as weak kids and most golfers learnt as strong adults 2 Every good golfer can bounce a ball on a wedge most golfers never practice or even attempt skill drills The rest is just conjecture thank you for taking the time to read it

Hi Mike, how tight are my arms when im keeping both together to build connection? 10 are Schwarzenegger and 1 are Pudding. Big thank you from bavaria 🍻
@GolfPitt6 ай бұрын
that’s a great question! I would probably put it between 3 and 6… tension is never a good thing in the golf swing. This feeling is certainly something that could cause too much tension. The most common issue i see when doing this is hyper extend the trail arm and keep stiff and locked too long. The trail arm should stay soft and in to the top as it folds. The lead arm will stay straighter. And maybe feel pinched in from the lead peck! Great question thanks for watching A great way to think about it is at your set up position have someone put a balloon in between your elbows and blow it up until it just touches your arms. You would need to have enough tension to keep the balloon in there.
@grahamjones73716 ай бұрын
Soft but heavy! think Hogan called it live tension! golfs crazy, active but in active! I like to feel they slightly resist or move milliseconds after body engine/ground pressure starts swing as this is how a weak kid would start swinging a heavy object

coming right up! just remember the downswing is a result of the backswing and where the player is. if you get a better more connected backswing the downswing gets very simple! accelerate the hands and open up the hips! the hip and grip! i will definitely get some content on it for you! thanks for watching!

Left shoulder pushes arm/hand/club away -- having brain/movement issue --- what part of your left shoulder do you feel pushing away? Think one video of yours (or maybe Adam's) said the back of the left shoulder initiates the movement? Is that the back "edge" of the shoulder, nearest target, or more center of the shoulder??? For some reason I'm feeling awkward getting everything moving (come on brain, engage, lol) -- thanks
@GolfPitt3 ай бұрын
So I think the best way to feel it is to put a glove under your lead armpi in between your peck and your armpit and use that to move your left arm, which then moves your hands and club. put it way up there in the armpit

@@GolfPitt Thanks Mike, You are AWESOME Instructor.....been playing golf for 50+ years, but always initiated the backswing/takeaway with the hands, arms followed, then shoulders turned. TODAY, been switching over to shoulders move first/initiate and hands/arms are along for the ride (as you/Adam & so many recommend/teach). TRIED your SUGGESTION and think it is the ANSWER!!! Weird thing was, standing straight up and holding club across shoulders, I could move left shoulder across to left, no issues. Then leaning over into golf posture, w club still held across the shoulders, could turn left shoulder left w no issues. BUT, put a club in my hand and club on ground, then try to turn left shoulder to start swing and it gets all wonky, like my brain and motor skill disconnect....looked like Charles Barkley trying to swing club, lol. THANKS AGAIN

@GolfPitt6 ай бұрын
haha you spied him. we love giving blood because it is so simple and it sets off a domino effect of presetting good things to happen in the trail arm during the backswing. The trail arms role ( or lack of role) is so important to getting on the path to the least amount of manipulation! thanks for watching!
