Though each civilization probably had their own reasons. -The abandoned villages are villages overrun with zombies. That’s it. -I don’t think that poisonous potatoes are supposed to be “rotten”. -12:13 That’s why abandoned villages are so rare. You answered your own questions. -I don’t think the developers are going to go through the effort of creating the possibility a village being naturally overrun by zombies. There’s literally no point. -If you want to know what ruined portals are, look up anything related to Mojang’s other spin-off game Minecraft Legends. (Before anyone looks into it, remember that Legends, unlike Dungeons, is supposed to be an in-universe fairy tale-like story in which some stuff is fact, while some stuff is made-up and didn’t actually happen or existed) -The zombified piglins aren’t infected by a virus, they’re living corpses that died due not being able to breathe (piglins can’t breathe air outside the Nether unless they’re equipped with Nether fungus). -The origins of the undead in the Overworld (or at least a creation of a large portion of the undead), are partly answered in Minecraft Dungeons.
