I completely get why some believe Messi is on the autistic spectrum, its been well documented that as a child he was very much a mute and had difficulties in social situations and interacting with others ect.. He has displayed consistent machine like performances over a long period of time, suggesting he is potentially high functioning a master of his own routine. I was diagnosed with 'mild autism' at age 10. I do see a lot of myself in Messi's mannerisms. The repetitive lifestyle of practice, training, football, day in day out will exacerbate these quirks lets say. I bet Messi lives a rigid life with his family too. Routine, routine, routine, little change. It's really nothing to be ashamed of. I would say it's actually a net positive. I like to think that autistic obsession was the last ingredient that made Messi the GOAT. As rigid obsession made me pretty good at my job too if I do say so myself.
