I can’t wait for a good rain storm so that I can use that cow analogy. Thanks for the laugh! Have a good season.

Kevin, one of the most valuable skills in the outdoors is setting up a tarp. Thanks for joining our 3 Minutes community and being so active. It makes the channel better.

Throw a piece of dry spruce on that fire and we'll see how well your tarp does! I.m guessing you cook on birch and poplar? Really enjoy your content. Will try the no ridgeline method of tarp setting. Thanks for the video. Seasons greetings.

I almost never cook on birch or poplar. Two reasons, those are poor choices of firewood for cooking and you can’t find that wood as far North as I Guide. Spruce, Pine, Fir, Maple and Alder and fires big enough to feed 14. Did I mention my tarp is 22 years old. 🙂 Thanks for watching. All the best. Lisa

@@Mainepolingguide How come the sparks don't get it? I am further north than you (Quebec) and birch and alder are everywhere. But our logging companies don't seem to have the same environmental wisdom. Alder is great for smoking. Yellow birch and maple are the preferred wood for cooking/heating. White birch will make your pots lots of fun to clean! Thanks for the reply.

@@mushercdn it’s the height of the peak. Sparks come up like on any cooking fire but they go out at about head height. When I cook the cooking grate and the big Daddy frypan hold the sparks at bay. I’ve had a couple of trips with Boy Scouts where they tested the limits with a big fire but it’s held up.

Great Video Lisa. What material is your tarp? I am looking to one and hoping it will last as long as yours.

It’s a marine grade Nylon. She doesn’t sew them herself anymore but Jane Barron Alder Stream Canvas made that tarp and can maybe connect you with the fabric source. Good luck.
