The way I use the film sims is: I shoot solely in RAW and then apply the various film sims later in Studio RAW from Fujifilm. But here's the spice: I keep track of the frame numbers, and I apply film sim A to the first 36 frames, and then apply film sim B to the next 36 frames, and so on and so forth. Basically, it's as if I'm shooting rolls of film, 36 frames at a time. That way, I have a variety of looks in my photo library, and I don't get any choice paralysis. Good for you for having the VI! I'm still waiting on my black X100VI, BTW, which I ordered two hours after the official announcement. So, at the moment, the X100V is keeping me company.

Thank you for sharing your workflow, I will definitely try it out! Sounds like fun :D I ordered 20 minutes after release and it shipped on the 1st of June. I wish you the best of luck, that your camera will arrive soon :)

Been on the list for a X100vi. Refuse to pay inflated prices. However, I’m tempted to buy an X-T5, put a 23 f2.0 on it, and call it good. I prefer APSC cameras for my personal use. Not pro. Just an enthusiastic hobbyist that takes photos for art references. However, when you reach a certain price point with Fuji, you start to question APSC vs FF 😂
@floriangladis22 күн бұрын
And you shouldn't pay these prices. I really like the film simulations on Fuji. Also, I am trying to remove adobe out of my life (for cost reasons) and editing the pictures afterward is really a pain in the a** for me atm. But still FF is awesome ngl. If you have a good workflow to edit your pics, it may be even better than the Fujifilm filmsims :)

Love the video. Got my x100vi 2 weeks ago and I only shoot JPEG (would love to shoot HEIC, but android app won't import em). I am for sure in the camp of not even trying to get the RAWs out of the camera. I think I have enough RAWs from my Sony A7C2 haha
@floriangladis2 ай бұрын
So you rock the same combo! :D My respect for only JPEG. Do you have any problems with that at all? I think at some point I have to go the same way.
@codruterdei2 ай бұрын
@@floriangladis Quite the opposite with the problems, it's only good things. Even the camera, if it would have better manual focus or autofocus it would be the perfect film camera replacement. I use a Canon 7 as my film camera of choice so it's quite similar in terms of adjustments. Also for film simulations I do it the film way and try to get a "roll of film" when I go out to shoot, basically before starting I choose the recipe and go.

At 6:35, you say Kojak Gold isn’t based on any actual film stock. Isn’t it directly based on Kodak Gold though?
@floriangladis2 ай бұрын
I think it is yes, but the name of the recipe is Kojak Gold. You will find it, if you google it :)
@austinschussler7132 ай бұрын
Yes, I’m clear on the name distinction. I’m talking about the point in the video when you say Kojak Gold isn’t based on any actual film stock. Kojak Gold is based on Kodak Gold.

I’m looking for a first camera and am stuck between the Ricoh Gr3, X100VI, and A7cii. All have portability in mind. Can’t seem to decide.
@floriangladis2 ай бұрын
I think you cant go wrong with either. The X100VI is hard to get though. Ricoh as well. But great cameras. Depends on what you want to do with your camera. I think over all the SONY is my all time favourite camera so far.
@austinschussler7132 ай бұрын
@ I’m able to get the Ricoh easily. X100VI will certainly be a bit trickier 😅
@zakiradi4503 ай бұрын
Why don’t you import all Simulations in Lightroom and then apply them on raw file like we do for Sony
@floriangladis3 ай бұрын
Is that possible?

Great review noting some of the nitty gritty details that other videos dont cover. I'm an a7cii user and am actually kind of unhappy with the sony colors especially for skintones. Because of this, I'm thinking on getting a Fuji. Do you think its worth getting a fuji either a x100vi or a xt50? Or do you think playing around with color profiles is an equivalent way to go?
@floriangladis3 ай бұрын
Depends on how much money you have i guess :D But I am really happy with my sony pictures after editing. The only 2 reasons for the X100VI imo are the flash and the size.
@game257214 күн бұрын
So you will buy someone’s else’s recipe other than your own? Fuji has made cameras and film for 90 years who knows color science better than them?
@floriangladis13 күн бұрын
No, I won’t. Filmsims are mostly free to find in the web. It’s all personal preference. If you like the default film sims u are free to use them. I like custom ones better though :)
@MrSolidair4 ай бұрын
It is Kodak not Kojak
@floriangladis4 ай бұрын
Well, the film simulation I use is called Kojak Gold. But I am aware that there is a film stock by Kodak that is very popular and plenty of film sims are made of. Don't get confused here.
