3 Months Living and Working on Hamilton Island!

Here’s a recap of the last 3 months living in paradise.
At the start of this year I decided I needed a new lifestyle. I desired a job that didn’t feel like a normal 9-5 with a constant ambition to find a way to escape the city life. If it wasn’t for my Mum booking us all a family getaway trip up here in February, seeing how beautiful this island is, I wouldn’t have even thought about moving up here. Over the last 3 months I’ve met a whole bunch of amazing people and had a whole lot of pretty unreal experiences making great memories. My new job as a Handyman here has been a blast! I can’t see myself leaving anytime soon.

Did you find the airport noise noticable at all.. I wonder this because its great that the island has an airport, but also potentially loud and annoying.

The aircraft noise is noticeable however not enough to be annoying. There were only a handful of flights every day so it wouldn't be as busy as a city.

do staff get discount on acitivues like great barrier reef snorkling tours and helicopter rides over whitehavens and stuff like that

Yeah mate heaps of discounted activities for HIE workers however all the aerial stuff isn't unless you know someone or get friendly with the pilots ;)

Hey Brooke, $15 each way for staff to both Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour. Can also do for free the barge to Shute Harbour but it's slow.

As staff there are many discounts, most of the restaurants and activities staff get a good rate. The IGA here is a bit more $ than the mainland options but not as bad as service station prices. The ferry to Airlie Beach is heavily discounted so makes monthly mainland shop ups enticing. Easy to save money if you can get into a routine, depends on how much you want to party 😁
