We had ‘72 International Scout ll. It had solid and smooth ride. Very reliable and easy to maintain and repair. Parts were cheap but rarely broke. You could buy it or install later a factory AC. Now they’re high priced classic collector 4x4. Manual and straight 6 made fun to drive. People liked to install Chevy V8 it was easy upgrade.

Monteverdi improved the safety of their vehicles over the International Scout by installing three-point safety belts for driver and passenger. The International Scout only had two-point belts.

i owned a late UMM Transcat (the precursor to the Alter). It was phenomenally strong and actually nice to drive. What you didn't mention was that the body (made from very thick steel, hence the lack of curves.) was welded onto that ladder chassis. It weighed 2600 kg empty, but towed really well and was very good off road. I always wanted an Alter 2
@austinshackles5494 ай бұрын
pictures are quite random, half the time when talking about the Monteverdi there are pictures of range rovers, and there's a random picture of a diesel engine for no reason. Plus you could've found a picture of the Monteverdi 4-door Range Rover. All in all, a good story spoiled by rubbish picture composition.

Hey! I'm not hating or anything, but you should have done your research better in regards to UMM. You got here a bunch of wrong info, mainly about the engines..And some of the pictures that you show are not about what you are talking about, for example the 1993 dash... And they did make the Alter 2000 but only about 25 examples of it.

County Tractors 4x4 version of the Ford Transit is now highly sought after with prices rising steadily as they become better appreciated. Most survivors are the Mk3 with higher prices for the much rarer Mk2. Short wheelbase Mk2 is extremely rare and if any Mk1 4x4 Transits survive, that’s the Holy Grail.

If you look at the Range Rover, notice the lines on the bodywork. The first Range Rover was actually the British-built predecessor of the Isuzu Trooper. Isuzu debuted its Trooper Japanese-built alternative to the Range Rover in 1984. Its styling was a mildly reshaped rendition of the original Range Rover. The basic shape of the first-generation Trooper continued to 1991.

the Monteverdi Safari should've been powered by either a 4.4 TSI V8 or turbocharged 3.4 I6 . . . both mated to a 5-speed torque converter auto transmission . . . double wishbone suspension at the front & multi-link at the rear complemented by a reliable 4WD system & optional air suspension . . . off road enthusiasts would have the option to buy a dedicated serious off road variant of the Safari . . . the variant would feature a revised heavy duty suspension setup incorporating stiffer anti-roll bars & a 2.0 in. suspension lift instead of the air suspension . . .

The Monteverdi had one fault, it looked like a BMW without its iconic kidney grille. If Monteverdi had partnered with BMW to create an early version of the X5, then it could’ve been a success due to brand recognition.
