Austin! Please do a video on this topic … how to make a dry “harsh to your ears” drum sample sound pleasing and give it ambience (like when a real drum is recorded in a room with a mic). FOR EXAMPLE … The sounds in the Roland TM-2 (which I recorded into my Mac for editing with Logic Pro X) are VERY “in your face” and need “taming” so that when you listen with headphones, the sounds don’t HURT your ears! I want to make these samples sound like they are set-back 10 feet in a room (add ambience) but not have a lingering reverb long beyond the length of the sample. What would be your approach to getting such samples to sound good? EQ out some 1k to 5k ?? PLUS run them through a “fake room mic” reverb like you did in this video? (then save the processed samples) PLEASE HELP !! Thanks.

Hello, how are you. Will you continue with the "Study the Greats" videos? They are amazing. Strong hug. Fabiano - Brazil

Fabiano Oliveira Yes I intend to keep making Study The Greats into the future, but I do have other interests and video ideas I want to do as well, for both this channel and my website. The time between STG episodes will be longer while I tackle these other projects, but I intend to still do them going forward. Hope that answers your question :)

How did you got all individuals drum tracks for mixing? Nice video!
@johanjof5613

There are quite some tracks around with high reverb on the kick. The secret is to split the kick in high and low ends, and send only the low end to the reverb in order not to get the click (ofc you wanna high pass the reverb as you do otherwise the low lows of the kick will be in your face in the reverb). My second recommandation would be to adjust your overall reverb level you do at the end of this video in the whole mix context, doing that alone makes no sense imho. what does mean too much reverb without context ? Nothing

The one thing I would have done differently is to make the effect itself 100% wet. Other than that, great video.
@dorespoog2229
@dorespoog2229 2 жыл бұрын
That's actually pretty crucial, as sending to an effect aux which isn't 100% wet will also increase the dry volume of the audio data in the track you send, which can easily mess up your balance and also might trick you to think the sound is necessarily better.
