It's fun to geek out on expensive gear, but videos like this show it's not necessary to get the job done. Great stuff. If you want to go lightweight and don't need to do bigger tasks or saw big logs - I carry the little Opinel No. 12 saw for kindling, etc. with my Mora Heavy Duty Companion carbon (with vinegar patina) and one of my bigger folding knives like the Real Steel H7 for campsite tasks. BTW: On Odenwolf's website you can configure their fixed blade knives including the same ones you showed with different D2 blade finishes, G10 or wood scale colors and Kydex sheath colors including a firesteel for 100 EUR. You can also get the scales separately.

Decent set mate! Ive decided to go with a Mora basic, Fiskars x14, and Fiskers folding saw. Of all my expensive knives, I'm finding myself just using my basic Mora's lately. They just hit different

I have a Samurai 210 cm curved blade saw, I can't rate it highly enough, I have a Bahco Laplander which is a great little saw, but the Samurai is way more aggressive for if your doing some heavy processing, it cuts brilliantly, is light weight and dirt cheap. I know Silky are probably considered the best but I'm not sure how much better the equivalent Sily would cut for 4 times the cost, and I believe Silky saw blades are less forgiving and more likely to snap than bend. Here in the UK, the Samurai 210cm saw is available for just $12 quite a bit cheaper than even the Laplander, insanely good quality/cost ratio.

Cool video! Samurai saws have a great reputation, and this one is half the price of the same size Silky. Only downside I see is the handle leaves the teeth exposed in the closed position. I do like the almost fawns-foot handle though.

Looks like good stuff. I use the Balco Laplander saw on the trail, a Rexbetti saw around the house, a 3# (?) long handle G.I. ax in camp, a Mora and /or a SAK Huntsman on the trail.

This was a great video showing people that there is great budget gear out there that will work just as good and made well as some of this super expensive gear. Just goes to show you that price does not always dictate quality. I also find it so funny that general camp task , woodsman task or outdoor in the woods tasks are now called and considered bushcraft type skills. I have spent my whole life living in the wilderness camping fishing, hunting, hiking being a guide for fishing, hunting, horseback etc: done search and rescue for years and it was not till a few years ago did I start hearing all these terms about so called bushcraft lol. Anyway great video and I might actually check out that axe as I am a big fan of a good camp/pack axe/hatchet.

I travel the world doing bushcraft on all continents. I never use American made stuff. I also never needed a saw or a hatchet. I also don't need some high price knife. I can do everthing I need with an 8 dollars Mora Basic 546 and have done it for 6 months total in Colombia and Thailand. It's never about the tools you bring. I agree with the fact you're giving budget options. There are always idiots that think you need expensive gear, so it's a like from me. About budget, not the tools you recommend.

the camillus hatchet looks miiiighty similar to my $12 harbor freight hatchet. looks like much better quality control though. i had to put a ton of elbow grease into it to get it where I like it and I had to pay about double the price of the axe to get a leather sheath on etsy

G'day Aaron, 100 USD each to meet the 3 tool rule aint bad these days, but under 100 total for that lot is quite amazing. Yeah a few others could have got a gig, but not too many ...... well done mate !!!!! Btw; personally I've never snapped a Silky, though I reckon it has been very close a coupla times ; ) For a straight bladed fella, I still rate the ol' Laplander very highly. it was around 40 AUD, back in the day. I havent seen hide nor hair of it on YT, in, ..... must be years now. I assume you'd still have one in the catacombs ? Cheers Duke.

You made excellent choices. I’m in the throes of a knife addiction and have spent a few grand in the past year on beautiful knives I don’t need, but it is still fun playing the budget game. Mora and BPS make great budget knives, Bahco Laplander and Corona are excellent budget saws, and the Cold Steel Trail Boss is a great budget axe if you don’t mind carrying a 28 incher. Bibury and Roktol make awesome multi tools for $20-40. And don’t forget to bring a sharpener. There are DC3 clones for less than $10 that work just as well.
