R1/RB sprinting is good for keeping closer control and dribbling, instead of using R2/RT which is better for getting ahead but when getting closed down the other one is very helpful for better control.

You can call for the ball by pressing X and for a through ball by pressing triangle, I think that'll help with your frustration a bit!!
