Why is it brownish-yellow? Unlike o- and p-nitroaniline, in m-nitroaniline NH2 is not conjugated with NO2. o: H2N-C=C-NO2, p: H2N-C=C-C=C-NO2, m: H2N-C=C-C-NO2 or H2N-C-C=C-NO2.

@@pbn3215 Possibly could be because of substituting the EtOH by MeOH in cheap liquors. Some would say that why would someone add something toxic into a beverage, however a few years back here, in Czechia, people would suddenly go blind and some would die after drinking vodka, rums, and other alcohols. There was nationwide prohibition and after a few months, it was found out that one producer was just awful and purposely added methanol in it because it is cheaper than ethanol (no added 30 % tax) So from now on, the selling of methanol became very limited here.

Pure methanol can be purchased from scientific shops. How ever it can also be obtained via fractional distillation of paint thinners. It is an important ingredient in paint and varnish removers. Once i get vigreux column i am going to fractionally distill off thinners and get solvents from it.

@@akhilthechemist paint thinners have to be specific type. I have such a paint thinners with no mark up about the ingredients they used to make that thing off.Regardless I have to run chemical for methyl based compounds .
