You referenced "Certified Installers" several times. Do you refuse to sell these product to others?

Not at all. This method of installation is what we tend to teach to crews that wish to become Certified. Anyone can use the method.

So why not just do 1 piece?
@WeatherizationPartners5 жыл бұрын
You can do that method too. Some builders prefer a 3-piece method to save on cost. Here's a link for other flashing methods: www.dupont.com/products-and-services/construction-materials/building-envelope-systems/articles/how-to-install.html?src=partner_install

Because it's cheaper this way. A roll of FLexWrap is not cheap.

@@vicpinto1970 I am not in the construction industry. I installed my windows on my new build myself. So I was thinking more so of quality and not cost, but understood.

Not just cost but installation is easier with this method. Working with these self-adhesive flashings can be tricky since they are self-adhesive.

Wrong way to install the flashing tape
@WeatherizationPartners3 жыл бұрын
Cram, thanks for your question. This is an acceptable method to flash the window per DuPont Guidelines. This is a method we teach Certified Installers. Other guidelines available here: www.dupont.com/building/how-to-install.html

This is really outdated. "X" cutting or "I" cutting the house wrap and then folding the flaps inside is no longer acceptable.

Thank you for your interest in our video. The I-cut is actually an approved method and widely-accepted standard for preparing openings for an integral flanged window. This method, along with other alternate methods, are illustrated in DuPont’s current installation guidelines (www.dupont.com/building/how-to-install.html) and vary based on the type of window. A 3-piece sill method is approved for DuPont Tyvek Certified Installers.
