Thanks for the vid, I myself get stuck in pitfall 1 a lot, I just focus on theory too much thinking that when the problems come out ,theory is going to be much more important, well time to work on some easier problems.

This might sound like a dumb question but is there a way to see the difficulty scaling of questions? I want to build up my knowledge but I'm not too sure what is considered to be a "simpler" problem per se
@ShefsofProblemSolving3 жыл бұрын
No dumb questions as far as I'm concerned. I don't think you can really see difficulty of a problem of the bat, the best thing you can do here (without any coach) is to use a heuristic: Countries which perform worse at the IMO have easier Team Selection Test than those that perform better, competitions for younger competitors are easier than competitions for older competitors (JBMO vs BMO), and the more local the competition (AIME vs USAMO) the easier the problems.

Once share your imo experience in one of these videos ,like about the inner game and your psychology while attempting math contests ..
@ShefsofProblemSolving2 жыл бұрын
Sure, I'll put that on the topics list. Would just the IMO experience be useful or would the entire competitive journey be useful as well ?

@@ShefsofProblemSolving I wanna know about the entire competitive journey. How did you start with competitive math? How did you stay motivated?. I want you to make a video answering these kind of questions
