Making Poke on the mainland is challenging. Most of the fish we get is previously frozen but it's cheaper than a plane ticket to Honolulu for FRESH fish. When in Honolulu or Kona we go nuts buying fish at our favorite markets. Crunchy Limu is hard to find but I've bought some at Foodland in Waimea to bring back home. In Honolulu, we got red limu from Young's.

From what you shown, I would say Ono's Seafood for Ahi Poke. Not sure if the Tako was caught locally. If it wasn't it wouldn't be fresh but again it's how you cook it & prepare it. As far as Foodland goes or anywhere on this island Salmon wouldn't be as fresh as Ahi, because we don't catch Salmon here on the island. Alisha's Market has good Roast Pork from what you've shown, but I like the ones in China town in the open market. Thanks again for your reviews.

Thanks Joe! What is the cookie lol , thanks for the rec might have to check out Bristol farms
@jbs2562 жыл бұрын
@@DanVsWorld that’s what they call the cookie the sell warm and fresh in the bakery section. Yeah, the nerve they have calling it “The Cookie” then you taste it … It’s a big $3 cookie. I’ll let you discover it… the store is all over SoCal. Great store anyway. A cross between Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s, maybe. Very unique. Before Covid they did lots of sampling in the store. I recently saw one sampler with some goat cheese. Maybe there’s hope it returns in full swing.

Amanda and Felix are really good judges! Your girl friend seems very picky and accustomed to Americanized versions of authentic dishes. Probably not the best palette to put in a video tasting local food.
