@@mathsandsciencechannel take for example x=1 and y=-1 . . . your solution 2xy delivers -2 . . . while my solution abs(2xy) delivers abs(-2)=2 . . . and because a square root function only gives you non-negative results only 2 is correct in this case . . .

2:44 sqrt(x^2) = abs(x) and therefore the answer is abs(2a+1) and NOT 2a+1 where abs(...) is the absolute value function . . . PS. take for example a=1 and a=-1 and you will see why we need abs(...)
