Challenge: Combating dryness with the weather change while also avoiding product buildup. My hair doesn't like coconut oil, loves mango, prefers shea in winter, but not summer, and I dont really jive with too much gel. Wash days are weekly. It's been on my mind as we enter "crispy" season 🤣

Thank you for sharing your knowledge regarding the chemistry of African American hair. I am not having too many problems with my hair except that it gets so very dry and I need to moisturize almost every day. I have eczema in my scalp and upper body. Luckily I do not have those horrible lesions that some people have only a really itchy scalp that I calm down with castor oil and aloe vera, as well as the shampoo and creams the dermatologist prescribes. I am older and wore an Afro in the 1960s, videos like yours helped me relearn to care for my hair and it is thriving as a result. Thanks again.

I Have 4C-coily short hair I use to get lots of tangles , but right now I don't get too many tangles , I will do a finger detangle at times and I use AG care products for some reason the shampoo and conditioner detangles my hair while wet, and keeps my hair soft.... then I will either 2 strand twist or Wash and go. I don't get to many tangles. I know tangles can be frustrating . I always do my hair when I'm in a good mood , and then I will have patience with my hair. I hope this help you some

Great vid👍🏾 I’ve got some homework now as a result 😆Thank you for your generous heart, we just love and appreciate you ❤ I honestly believe your advise for combing my dry hair, starting at my ends, working my way up, and using moisture more frequently during the week will help tremendously with minimizing fairy nots…those nots are my biggest challenge. As opposed to what I was doing using my Pattern Beauty brush, on wet hair that had leave in conditioner on it. The latter, gave me beautiful curl definition (once my hair air dried) ……but at the horrible expense of fairy not city …no matter how slow and cautiously I was in my detangle process from my ends up approach. So thank you 🙏🏾 I would love to see you video yourself doing your own night time routine. To include you moisturizing your scalp, your edges (edges details since most of ours are thinning as we age, hormonal changes or just thinning due to face line hair line differences and/or other edges traumas) and then ends and detangling process before bed - if that’s not too personal of an ask to show please. Question. - When you say “pineapple ‘ing” your hair, what does that mean and look like? If our hair grows up out the scalp but then dangles down because of gravity does that mean you recommend us pulling it up in a ponytail, twist the hair to stretch it then tuck the ends in side your hair with Bobby pins so the ends don’t dry out as much (at night routine, of course) 🤷🏽‍♀️ Or do you recommend because our hair grows out then hangs down (gravity) for us to just do twists at night instead 🤷🏽‍♀️ Sorry for the book 😂but you asked Miss Tonya ❤

My hair is currently dry as a dessert. I've tried 52 million YT suggestions for retaining moisturized hair. I noticed when I dust my ends, I have spit spit ends, like split on splits on splits. Not a lot, but I've found about 3 recently. & tbh, prior to learning that natural hair was a movement, I was natural w/o knowing what it was & my old products worked. Since being parbens & all that other stuff "free" my hair tangles are worse, hair is dry, & gets matted after getting in the pool for les than an hour. I tried to revisit old products like Pantene, but because of this natural trend in our community, they've changed their formula. So finding one that stops the webbing tangles, I have yet to find. I can detangle & immediately have to detangle again. & it's very frustrating because rtaining length is a challenge

How well moisturized is your hair (water, leave-in and oil)? In my experience dry hair gets tangled up badly. How often do you get a trim? The more split hair the more tangling up with healthy strands. How do you wash your hair? It is easier to avoid tangles if the hair is kept in twist on wash day

Isn't that so annoying and I recently stretched my hair with the ReVair and did a trim and it seems like the knoting is worse.
@lacolombe007

@@sable7114 one thing that helps me is detangling my hair before washing, preferably keeping it in twists during the wash to prevent tangles during the process (I do not always do that) , and making sure it is detangled/stretched before blow drying it. I let my hair air dry in twists to stretch it before blow drying

@@lacolombe007 so it's a must for me to detangle before shampooing but it just takes so long and then I put coconut pre poo on it. So you are saying before you blow dry you actually let your hair dry first in twists? Then you go back and apply heat?
@lacolombe007
@lacolombe007 Жыл бұрын
@@sable7114 I don’t all this the same day. Typically I will apply the oil (prepoo) by undoing the twist one at a time, untangling and retwisting in big twists a day or two before washing my hair. Washing my hair takes not too long (there maybe some undoing and retwisting especially to apply deep conditioner). I would say plan 1 - 1:30 hour including steaming the hair. Then I let the hair air dry in twist (May redo big twists) Some days later, I will style the hair or not (would wear a wig or turban)

My current challenge with my hair is dryness (high porous) and tangles. I probably should de tangle my hair more but I’m wondering if that would be too much manipulation? And I have to wet my hair and add conditioner to den-tangle it my hair properly. But I know wetting it too much isn’t good for our hair. Especially high porosity.

My challenge is the tiny lint ball like things I find on my hair when detangling my hair weekly on wash day. I feel like this is hindering my length retention due to me having to snip the ends off where the lint ball is at if I cannot slide it off.

I have a question , I’ve been watching some of your videos on PMP I just wanted to know the order to apply these. So correct me if I’m wrong penetrating oils before shampoo , moist ( does this include condition and leave in ? ) , then the protective oil ? I just want to understand when’s the best time to apply penetrating /essential / oil in relation to your shampoos and conditioner .

Some people's hair doesn't. I'm a thalessemia carrier and every time I get stressed my hair falls out in patches. I also have been on medication for over 20 years. All of that effects how my hair grows. I'm also over 40.

Lack of protein can cause shedding, I would recommend connecting with your doctor to see if you're deficient in anything since becoming vegan.

Very sadly, I'm experiencing menopausal thinning, like my hair is just disintegrating..Minimal.loss on wash day, but still disappearing. I add DHT blocking oils to my weekly regimen, but no success..My hair has now started receding on the right side above my ear, and making its way backwards. I don't braid or blow dry. I treat my hair like a baby's, wash weekly, LCB and twist in 8. 😢

I believe this may be my first time commenting on this very informative channel, but when I read your post, I just had to comment. The Lord has blessed me with long, thick hair in spite of my age. I do my best to eat right, getting plenty of vitamins, minerals, and protein (my go-to vegees are the three C's - carrots, celery, cucumber - wash it well and make yourself, as I did, to eat it raw - this works for me and thank God I feel great) and of course living right, being stress-free as humanly possible.... hope this helps 🙂.
