Rain and wattering can strip soil from the root crown. Check and repack with fresh soil as needed. If you do not have acid soil in your area. Containers with acid soil are better than constantly amending your growing plot. After harvesting, the plants will go through a vegitative growth stage (roots and shoots) fertalize them in this stage for next years crop.

Q#1: Why do you recommend to apply soil acidifier or fertilizer on the surface of thick layer of wood chips or any other mulch? Wouldn't it be better to sprinkle the acidifier on the surface of the soil BEFORE adding the mulch? I am in the growing zone 6a and I grow my 20 bushes of blueberries in the ground. Every spring, I apply the acidifier to the bare soil. I worry that the acidifier would get trapped in the mulch instead of penetrating the soil. Q#2: All the KZbin videos on the subject of blueberries talk about the soil acidifier, but nobody is giving any advice on what kind of fertilizer to feed the blueberries with. I have yet to find a fertilizer that would say that it is suitable for blueberries. So, I use a fertilizer for evergreens, since it is also good for flowering bushes like azaleas and rhododendrons, which are acid loving plants. What fertilizer do YOU use for blueberries?
@sandyhayden-bristow13829 ай бұрын
You can put it over the mulch because the spring rains will wash it into the soil. By putting it directly on the soil, you run the risk of it leeching too far down away from your roots. Aluminum sulphate is a good acidifier and yes, the one you are using for evergreens is a good one because it also lowers Ph levels. Never seen a blueberry specific fertilizer either. (Hopefully Jeff will correct anything I have said that is wrong.)

Smh, KZbin deleted the link. You would use Acid Loving Plant Fertilizer you mentioned for flowering bushes for Blueberries (same criteria). Fox Farm has organic dry fertilizers and their Acid Loving Plant 4-5-3 one specifically mentions the berries including Blueberries.

Hi Jeff, I enjoy your vids. Some of my strawberries began showing brown border spreading toward the crown. One plant completely wilted. I removed that plant, cut out all the nearby leaves I could see that showed signs of infection and sprayed the plants I had taken leaves off of with neem oil. Any idea what it was? We’ve had some rain lately. My plants are mulched with coconut fiber rinsed in a vinegar solution. Most seem very happy. Thanks for any advice. Neem is my go to for most problems, OK?
