To fix the hole where your stack used to be. Get a piece of sheet metal (preferably the same metal your bed is made of) that's bigger than the hole and the holes where the bolts were and weld it on and then to fix the bedliner issue just get rid of the factory bed liner and get a spray in bed liner. It really aint that bad if you think about it

@happypappy63717 жыл бұрын
A small drain hole in the bottom of the pipe, same as is in most mufflers would cure the water problem or use flappers.. Noise and soot would be lessened by putting the pipe(s) to the side of the box instead of in the middle. Also get the stack above the cab where it belongs.

only reason I have a stack on my 7.3 is because I live in south texas and we go to the river a lot and go mudding. mind you we drive thru the river. if youre truck turns of on you while you are in water or in mud and you have a turbo. that turbo releases pressure and sucks back. meaning it will suck back all that water and mess your truck up. I see a lot of nice diesels with side mount exaust with big tires and they will not stick their truck in mud or get it dirty. if you get youre truck dirty and stick it in the mud put a stack on it. its worth it and by the way my truck is white and its not black neither does the exaust fumes get in my cab

@chopperkid197 жыл бұрын
yeah just watched your video and alot of the things you are talking about is highly fixable from getting rid of cab drone to keeping water out of the stack/stacks. the thing that makes no sense to me is why put it in the center put it to one of the sides or both sides with a turn out keeps the coal off the truck and quites the drone out a huge amount and you can have more use of the rear window and rearview mirror. put a dip pipe with a one way drain plug at the bottom of the pipe and prevents the pipe from rusting out. Another way of preventing water build up is a set of flapper's

Stacks look better when they are taller than the cab. Looks ridiculous when the stacks are even with the cab or below. Makes about as much sense as having the 5 inch straights on my Freightliner Classic XL even with the top of my cab doors for any more than a few days. I had no choice, get exhaust fumes in the cab because of rotted mufflers, or get 48 inch sections to put on so the majority of the fumes stayed out. You want LOUD, that is LOUD.
@salvadordollyparton6666 жыл бұрын
BRADY SCHROEDER you mean when they're done properly? Who wants that, when you can have a 15 gallon trash can that only comes half way up the glass? That's cool...😞 even by the time i got my first diesel, everybody that was messin with em then started running stacks. Not 10 inch sewer pipes, but stacks. And back then hardly anybody cut em below the cab. So i wanted mine different, which worked VERY well with the added benefit of it being a short bed crew cab. 4 inch from the turbo, 5x18 rolled stainless tip dumping in front of the wheels. Being a dually i followed the fender a bit with the tip, looked and sounded mean as all hell. Like a hellicopter. But you could hardly hear it unless you rolled the passenger rear window down. Also a good way to get irritating drivers, if you can put em on the right at a light or somethin. Clouded my buddy out on his lil moped leaving the county fair. He had to sit for almost a minute before i could even see him. It was too perfect.

Well so most of the people doing a stack don’t have a rear split window that can slide open, nor a truck as clean as his. My truck is 25 yrs old, the bed is all banged up cuz it was used for landscaping, & it was spray painted. Correction, they spray painted the whole truck so now I don’t have to worry about my paint, the rain washes it for me. If I feel like I need a change I can paint it a different color, so it could feel like a new truck for a while. It also doesn’t make me feel bad if I drill a hole in the bed cuz I’ll eventually put a better bed on it, maybe a flat bed when I have the money to do so. I’m 16 so I don’t have much money rn. I only have enough for a DIY exhaust & or intake. In addition to fuel additives & oil to compensate for the lack of lubrication in the POS overpriced fuel we buy now for about $2.5-3 but it’s down to like $2.2 a gallon. The low sulfur shit stuff is stupid, it just causes y to use more fuel since it’s thinner.

I hate on the young guys my age with trucks that are gas and fully straight piped as well. Roaring through town and revving it non stop in the Walmart parking lot. Doing it for a build that is an offload toy, yea I can understand. I have never seen it for other than a "Look at me" mod as a daily. People can say all they want, but there is not another reason for it one a daily driver. I highly doubt that a stack is much different than just a few more feet of pipe and it dumping behind the axle or ran out the rear with a tip. Its just people that want their diesel to sound and look like a Pete. Blowing smoke all over people that just washed their vehicles, because they think they are awesome. Iv'e had diesels, so I earned my right to hate on ones that do.

Sounds like he just doesn’t like stacks. The whole point of running stacks is to get the exhaust up and away from the cab, therefore it should stick up over the cab. Also if you do it right you shouldn’t worry about water in it either. And if you change your mind about having a stack then just weld a plate over the hole, it’s a truck bed. As long as the bed still does it’s job it’s fine.

nice six o ;-) you could fix the water problem by making sure the bottom of the stack is a low point in the system. then drill a small drain hole.... so water won't climb the hill and stand in the system. no more water build up... and it will allow the rain to wash a lot of that stuff out the drain. now just watch who's drive way, you're pouring crap on... lol i guess stack are a bunch of problems, one way or another.

Go to the junkyard and do not overlay it. Cut it to fit and weld it in. If it's done right you will never know it was there. Overlapping it will leave a space between the two pieces and will definitely cause a breeding ground for rust if it's not sealed up right. Just my opinion.

The tips will be above the cab so noise is a non-issue. And the spots ill be cutting will be in the very front right and left corners of the truck bed. 4 inch straight pipe to a 4.5 inch outlet. No issues with the fumes coming in as a result too. Also if you DON'T have stright up and down stacks and have something like bullhaulers with an angle, youll have no water issues.
