delilah to me is clearly intentionally a visual noise factor (like how xrd bedman had plenty of visual noise in his kit, as well as strive bedman having a bunch of ambiguous animations), and i think the argument that she gives you an extra thing to focus on convinces me of that more hahaha

NGL, having weird body language should be a Pro to playing a non human character, and having something, not only spell it out for you but also annoy the crap out of the controlling player at the same time, is a very weird choice by ArcSys. All of the points you mentioned are already shown by Bedman? itself, you don't need a cute girl to point it out for you.

You can get all the same tells from Bedman already, but when a non humanoid body is obscured by explosions and other debris, it could be hard to tell what they are doing when the morph a lot. People who are used to it can tell, but Delilah will probably help a lot of people who aren't used to that get used to it a lot smoother

@@ozi-g-be Don't think anyone's considered players that in general have a hard time concentrating on the game when a non-playable character element is moving around. They ban stages in certain tournaments with many fighting games for this element alone, and not even just for the people that are super susceptible to it. Ravstar up there has a point that all of these things have a tell on the Bed itself if you're paying attention. Delilah's animations really aren't any better about being a tell since all of them are a variation of her cowering. Everything you said here in the video would be fine to me, if Delilah was at all consistent about where she stands on the screen. She seems to wander aimlessly from behind to in front of the Bed (which is the worst possible place for her to be for visual clarity) at seemingly random times. And as an aside to anyone claiming its intentional to mask animations (ala Faust Bombs or something like that), I don't think that was actually intentional on a design front.

Dividing your attention to 2 different characters can do more harm than good Paying attention to the position of 2 different entities will add to your mental stack significantly as Delilah does not always stay near bedman I really don't think paying attention to delilah will make it any easier to defend against bedman

I think especially for people with attention problems, adding a whole 'nother moving part that does actions that can be more dramatic than the thing you're fighting initiates that 'new stimulant' response and makes you instinctively focus on her instead, which can be a big issue. I see the mod more as an ADHD handicap than anything else

Even though there is a few times I hilariously forget Delilah isn't the character i'm fighting, I never considered it to be an issue. Being distracted by her sounds more like a personal problem, personally I think she adds more life to the wackiness of the game. Thanks for the guide though, I didn't even know her movements were indicators.

All it means is not only do i have to learn to read what bedman is doing on his own, i also have to learn what the small child means when she blocks my view. @@gman1515 well to that I'd say that's the thing that makes Bedman a good character to use, cuz when you are in error 6e and you're able to retain it (cus it goes away on block or hit) bedman's reward is his mixup being obscured,(he is kinda slow so this helps him) Just think of it as Chipp's "find me" special move in the previous GG games, it's use is to make Chipp hard to see and the MF is already fast af, this isn't so bad compared to that, Definitely not as obnoxious as not being able to safe jump Baiken in strive at all because of parry.

This was made in good faith but, even while watching the video there were times where Delilah mad my eyes flicker to more then one place. I’m not against fighting the character but my brain can’t help but notice and occasionally be distracted by her, especially if she’s too close to me as the opposing character.

Thats a real problem actually, especially when you actively try to ignore her That's why I thought to recognize her and her tells as part of things from the character I can react to during gameplay Rather than ignore her, Cus if I ignore her she doesn't go away and now becomes visual noise. But if I see her as a reaction tool rather than a distraction (although harder) it's probably better than getting distracted Don't know how effective this approach is but I hope it helps Edit: spelling and grammar

Because his movements and attacks are also unorthodox, the jumble of it all can become a cluttered mess. Idk if that's how it is for anyone else, but I know this is definitely something that can mess up me specifically. Similar issues happen in another game I play called bbtag. Sometimes the insane amount of effects and back and forth between switching characters also adds to visual clutter lol

But jokes aside yes, you should try and learn Bedman?'s animations first, but can use Delilah as a complimentary telegraph of the character's actions and not the main thing you pay attention to.

Those are some incredibly unreliable reasons to keep her in game. Crouch animation that's delayed from Bed's actual crouch input. 5S and 5H showing Delilah in a crouch-like animation, which can look like 2S. "Can easily be obscured by Gameplay Debris". Is off screen a lot of the time if bedman is rushing you down from corner to corner or doing beyblade > 6e Followup. The worst thing is she pops in and out of background and foreground in some circumstances which means she just phases between planes sometimes.

Zato doesn't have to care about Eddie because he always comes back and fast than you think. Jacko does have to pay attention to her servants but even then so that's just her but her xrd version they were also distracting but no one said anything though. The point was that it doesn't make sense to get pissy over Delilah in the match when she also fix the whole bedman concept. Bedman is a character that wants you to put shit on screen. He's been like this since they first came out in xrd. Removing his sister will make it easier for people who are fighting Bedman to see what's going on because Delilah is not there along with the explosions.

Dumb reasons. You claim she's "Not a distraction" then immediately say "watch her actions to see what Bedman might be doing." How about no? How about you look at the actual character you're facing? The fact the mod exists at all is evidence enough the design decisions were poor. Gameplay should always come first especially in a technical fighting game where you have to watch your opponent closely. Not every fantasy idea can translate and still fit well in readability and gameplay. Nothing should clutter or obfuscate the view of the gameplay elements you need to keep track of. Pokemon trainer did it right. Way in the background, barely involved in the actual ring. I love GG, I love the DESIGN of Bedman, but it was dumb to implement it this way, full stop.

A lot of people also thought Potemkin was top tier, because they kept getting thrown for dumb mistakes. Fighting game hot takes plus a dollar are worth 99 cents.

What is she distracting you from if she conveys the same thing as Bedman? ?(the times she's even onscreen btw), If there's a clear & easy method to overcome these "distractions" then why not use it? she's even more of a detriment to the Bedman player than to the opponent, cus she actually telegraphs all of bedman's attacks faster than Bedman performs it.

@@ozi-g-be Its a disconnect from the primary target your focus should be on. Having a secondary target that can telegraph some things just complicates. Even doing that, its hard to see what's happening when Bedman is sparking, rolling, contorting with limbs that are not natural or easy to track. I will admit I did not know she could telegraph some of these things, but Id still push back and say why not just have all that conveyed by the primary target in the first place? It really just simply boils down to function should always come before form, at least in a highly competitive, fast paced fighting game where tracking and focusing on actions is essential. Just my 2 cents not saying its objectively right, just that a mod existing for removing her and some of these points make sense when you look at it this way.
