Rotation was something I struggled with for a long time - many, many years of bad habits to undo. Not helped by a problem lead knee which I have had for 45 years. But when it clicked (and I still think I can push through the lead leg earlier in the downswing) I was more consistent and at 60 am hitting the ball with the irons 15 yards further than when I was 30. Great drills - very similar to those suggested by Stuart Cartwright on the Good Golf Coaching channel. Maybe a future collaboration with Eric?

What is a good feeling to get that weight back to the forward foot. I feel I get stuck on trail foot. When I watch you doing the drill it appears you already have a lot of weight forward vs watching him? Essentially how much can I start and keep on lead foot to help the move?
@Gilesgillgolf5 күн бұрын
I would recommend using a shift board. Amazing for developing the correct sensations

@@Gilesgillgolfit looks like you initiate your swing with a small bump in of the trail knee? I have been searching to find a good trigger.

@ yes it’s like a Gary Player knee kick in

I've been experiencing some pain in my trail (right) hip on my follow through for a while. This move has reduced that pain a lot. Hopefully, to the point that it will actually start to go away. It's a small sample size thus far, but I feel like it's allowed my lead hip to internally rotate more, and reduced the amount of external rotation on my trail hip. It's also had the added effect of posting up on my front leg more and not letting it "sag" with too much knee bend (which is usually a problem for me).

Everyone feels for the left hip in the downswing. Hogan said that the left hip begins the downswing. But to neglect the essential support of the right hip leads to a falling on the right side. It’s referred to as hitting from the top. What is actually happening is a quick reaction to a sense of imbalance. As with the high wire act in the circus. There’s a constant need to maintain balance. Remembering the right hip can avoid this sense of imbalance.

Great video Eric, I have one question, is this the same technique you would use for a driver. It would seem to me that you would have to alter this because you are swinging up with the driver.

these days everyone is making it quite clear to push the left hip back out of the way and create power but when i do that it seems to keep me on my back foot and top the ball should i push from the right side at some point in the downswing i never get to the left side standing up position like i see the pros do in a beautiful finish 😢
@frankcanzanella67535 күн бұрын
Statues help the insecure beginner to relate to an accomplished position. These moving images are too complex and difficult to appreciate. A statue of the position of the left foot just after striking the ball. Makes it easier to ascend to the great position of the elite golfer. Most people don’t have the luxury of constant practice in a weather friendly environment.
