5th gen with 62K. Fully deleted and always run with exhaust brake in Auto. Sounds awesome. Pull heavy trailer and still on original brakes with a lot of city driving.

It’s good practice for your VGT to run it always, it’ll keep it moving freely.

VGTs are junk. It will still fail. Rarely do they see 300k kms. Meanwhile a fixed vane will easily do 1m kms.

I have a 2019 F250 Powerstroke. I use the exhaust brake 100% of the time, and you need to consider operating RPMs. Exhaust brakes don't work at low RPMs. I keep 2000-2500 as the best operating range, empty or loaded. I got a Raptor paddle steering wheel, revolutionizing my driving experience. The engine warms up faster and is much happier (as opposed to lugging), soot levels are lower, so regen times are extended. I also use Archoil at every fill-up and the cleaner at 5000-mile oil change intervals. I don't see much on exhaust brakes, and this was a well-done video. Thank you.

thanks for the detailed insight defiantly something to consider, glad you found it useful!

@@jl6.790 Absolutely. If people drive these like diesels, rather than like gasoline cars, they run better and last longer. Thanks again for this as I haven't seen another video like it.

I have it on full exhaust brake every time I’m driving, Not sure why Ram don’t set it up to come on when you start the truck , and if you don’t what it on then turn it off, 2016 3500 mega cab, HO 52 gallon S&B fuel tank. 116,000 miles Running great, Just had oil tested, they came back i have about the same engine wear as a 82,000 mile engine. I did go 10,000 miles on that oil pulling a 17,000lbs rv 5th wheel from cost to cost, but the rest of time i do 5,000 oil change, Truck has all parts that came with it from factory with S&B C/A, and Banks monster intake, 11- 12 mpg with trailer, thinking of putting Banks 5” exhaust on, Stanadyne fuel additive, only when i remember,

Do you run a Diesel Fuel additive?
@jl6.7903 күн бұрын
usually add an additive to the tank on every fill up but I'm not brand loyal in any way, as far as I'm concerned something is better then nothing. Check out my video I made couple weeks back about mistakes cummins owners make I go pretty in depth with the subject of fuel additives

so should i start using mine ? 23 2500 with 10k on it , and do you have to use tow haul mode as well when using that exhaust break?
@jl6.7902 күн бұрын
I’d definitely start using it now it’s never too late, and for tow haul i usually just use when I’m actually towing, no need to run it all the time

Is the Dodge/Cummins not equipped with a Jake Brake anymore? Did not realize they have switched to a variable vane turbo setup?
@jl6.790Күн бұрын
I believe they switched to a vgt turbo in 2007.5 when they released the 6.7 Cummins to replace the 5.9 Cummins due to stricter emissions requirements. As for the comment about the jake brake I am fairly certain dodge/ram 6.7 trucks never came factory with a jake brake, other then on the 5.9 there was a dealer installed option for one. But I could be wrong and would love to see if someone knows otherwise
