This is extremely good advice because although I have represented myself against the Pennsylvania State police and prevailed, remember they’re all in this together and I mean the magistrate and the state police are friends. They see each other all the time. It takes a non-partisan magistrate to go against the Pennsylvania state police. Fortunately, I prevailed but only because I had all of the facts on my side and they lied about the charges against me.. Moving out of the magistrates realm, most district attorneys/prosecutors are looking for a plea deal and if you walk in there with a big stick, that means a lawyer with a big reputation capable of kicking their butt things change in a hurry. A good lawyer will be able to spot extra charges thrown against the wall by law-enforcement to lead you to want to take a plea deal and a good lawyer will spot this immediately.
