Performing magic is not to prove yourself to someone as in haha look what I can do. It's a performance art which means you perform a rutine and you control the crowd. If you don't know how to perform properly and control a crowd and move from one trick to another without trying to prove yourself to someone then you probably haven't practiced enough.
