In this video, I will explain how poor financial stewardship will keep you from fulfilling your ministry’s mission.
When it comes to financial stewardship, many churches fall behind their for-profit counterparts. This stunts their growth and sends them down a dangerous road.
This is not about money.
Rather, it’s about being a good manager and doing the right thing every time.
With that, I’m going to cover the most common mistakes and misconceptions churches make as well as how to get church financial stewardship right.
Rule 1: You must establish best practices and consistently live by them.
I don’t have to tell you this, but the tendency in a ministry is to put relationship and experience before everything else.
Rule 2: Be disaster proof.
One thing that we learned from the COVID-19 pandemic is that we are ultimately not in control and yet there are things that we are called to do as good stewards to prepare our ministries for the unforeseen.
Rules 3: We must take compliance seriously.
There is an age-old myth that continues to circulate that churches don’t have any reporting requirements with the IRS.
This is simply not true.
These 3 rules aren’t meant to be negative about how your church is handling their finances. They are meant to uplift and instruct.
