John, I know you are big and brave but please wear safety glasses! A drill bit shattered on me and I still have it in my face to this day an inch higher and I’d be blind.

Good observation Derek, I will try to remember to in the future!

Great job you did. How are you overcoming the rust problem in your steel tender tank? I am building a 2" scale Durham and North Yorkshire traction engine. The description calls for a separate copper tank inside the tender to prevent rusting, but I am still undecided which option to take.

Yeah so I haven't actually sealed my tank yet, however, I am intending to do it with black bituminous paint. Heres the link: www.toolstation.com/black-bituminous-paint/p18859?store=S6&gclid=Cj0KCQjw9ZzzBRCKARIsANwXaeJHsD46s_6IQ30GBc7-Gz5NZJnScvfhrA9osdJTfXNAfeO24BibN4IaApvsEALw_wcB The only problem with this option is getting your hand in there to clean the surfaces up well enough for it to bond and do it. Of course the seperate copper tank is a good plan also.

Hi John really liking your videos I am about to start building a 3” Fowler keep up the good work I will be watching with interest what plans are you using

I am using the ones supplied by Bridport Foundry. They all seem OK atm but as you might see in the boiler video I had to re design the boiler to update the engine to 150psi. It won't compound properly at the 110psi specified otherwise.
