3 Scary TRUE Thunderstorm Horror Stories -

Hearing Nic talking about the window thing made me realize that I managed to accidentally thwart a break-in attempt when I was a kid due to playing PlayStation on the downstairs TV in the middle of the night. Dude with a flashlight skulking around in our backyard, stopped, froze, sees a kid playing Gran Turismo 4 in a pitch black kitchen through the window… and little kid me _WAVED AT BALACLAVA FLASHLIGHT GUY._ Needless to say, he took off running and I heard something with a V8 start up and take off shortly afterwards. Told my dad about it the next day and had the police search the area and stay on the lookout for people like that.

When I was a kid, I was one of those scared by Thunder storms. I was around 10 when I decided to get over it because I was sick of my dad and younger brother making fun of me for it. Surprised me how easily it worked just *deciding* to not be scared of storms when the next one happened and I wasn't scared at all

I used to be afraid of thunderstorms, like a lot of kids. But, how I was able to come to like it was that my grandma (or mom) would tell me that when it's thundering, its angels going bowling (of all the sports, bowling was my favorite growing up) and a big thunder is an angel getting a strike. I don't believe this is the case anymore as an adult, but now I find it relaxing. I do plan to use the 'angel's going bowling story' for my nieces and nephew when they get scared.

Their were so many storys that just give me the obsolete chills but the 2nd story was scarier then the rest.

This may be from months ago, but this was suggested right after we left the safest part of the house cause of a tornado warning, caused by severe thunderstorms. Gotta love youtube

I'm noticing a trend that all these "___ Scary Stories" are all just about stalkers, Perverts, trespassers, or home invaders with ___ as set dressing. Even the cop stories were just that. Not that there's anything wrong with those sorts of stories it's just. You'd think "Thunderstorm scary stories" would have some stories where the storm is the scary part, and not just some creeps on the lurk.

Ya, I get what you're saying. However that's not really how Mr. Nightmare works. It's usually scary stories that take place during a Thunderstorm, Winter, Halloween, etc. Some of them are more paranormal like, while others are like these ones.

And also, I'm wanting to know how the storm would be the scary part of the story. I think it can add to the scariness of a story, but I can't think of any way where it'd be really scary itself.

@@YeLiRSlLiB You basically have to lean into the supernatural element. For instance, my grandfather has this friend. On his way back home that friend was driving through a hellish storm. The wind was hard enough to blow cars a bit off course when it gusted, and the lightning was striking the highway and bouncing along it. It might as well have been a hurricane (very unusual for northern Indiana). And then it was like a wall. One moment the storm was hell, and the next it was a perfectly sunny day with no wind to speak of, and certainly no rain. It was at that moment that his truck died. The truck still had momentum and brakes so he pulled to the side of the road. Alongside a bunch of semis who had all had the same exact thing happen to them. Nobody was able to restart their vehicle. They waited for a while and eventually the storm passed over them and like magic every single truck started back up. From there the ride home was normal. I've tried looking it up, but here seems to be no good explanation for what happened.

I remember when I was a kid I thought there was someone in my window but it just a shadow of a tree (and the trees are far away from my house, I also remember that I was woke up in my bed because I don’t know how to sleep as a kid and I thought my curtains on my window just move and not in a normal way like sometimes it will move up like a tuna fish can or just move forward floating and outside from my window was nothing but black)

When I was a kid going into teenagerhood, there was a funnel that formed above a familys house and it moved over the mountain that was like a 11 minute drive away, eventually it touched down and went in the direction opposite from us, we got lucky.
