I can only add onto Greg's perceptive review my agreement and say he hit the salient points. I've not been up in over a decade and these videos of yours do put a smile on my face. You used an acronym for something one of the planes had that I didn't understand. Was it the rod rigging? or ailerons? The majority of my time was in a Piper Tomahawk. It occurred to me that there will be a lot of planes for you to fly.

Great video. I trained at CWU in Ellensburg, WA and I'm very familiar with that wind. It's a great training experience to land a 152 in 290/30G42. An ATP now, I look back fondly and with great respect on the hours I trained in Central Washington. Great job! For anyone training and watching these videos, pay attention, this is the cheapest ground instruction on basic flying skills you'll ever get.

I always loved flying with an instructor. It's fun flying with someone that understands aviation. Those flights usually have great converations. Most of my passengers have no idea what's going on but generally have giant smiles. Even if I get to play the game of "100 of the exact same questions" everytime I have a new passenger, it's totally worth it. Fire away with the questions

I know I'll love my RV-8 when it's done... but I would also love to own, or at least fly, a CubCrafters aircraft. Winged excellence. I soloed at 16 and have been flying ever since 1968 and never soloed a taildragger. It's in the top 3 in my bucket list to get a conventional gear rating. I'd love to fly a Carbon Cub. I know the guy who taught Harrison Ford in N.J. His flight school is a half hour flight from home base and I haven't taken advantage of this yet. After watching these videos by FlightChops it's time.

I flew a Challenger ultralight in 35-40mph winds...basically lifted off the ground with no ground roll and required a tremendous amount of flaperon input. Landing safely in those conditions required a little head speed. So normal approach is 45ish and on this one I maintained about 65-70 until I crossed the numbers. Taxing was the tricky part !
@Jerry109395 жыл бұрын
I think when I can I would like the X Cub. I have limited time in a taildragger, I have never flown a Cub before just the Aeronca Champ. and the Decathlon. I love the tandem seating because I like to see equally out of both sides of the airplane. After watching this video on the Cubcrafters and the little research I have done on them. I think the capabilities of the X cub is right what I want, but I would be happy with any of them. Thanks for this one.

Flight Chops. GoPros are good but you might consider using a dash cam where there is protection from weather. I use one all the time for road surveying, often mounted on a selfie stick and using on rough roads sitting on the back of a motorbike. The suction works fine too if you have a handy smooth surface. It will run all day (or more actually) on a medium sized power pack before a recharge is necessary and a 64 Gbyte card will run all day too. The mike is good enough. I find it much more useful than the GoPro as the GPS coords and time are logged continuously on the output files making synchronisation with other things such as waypoints logged in the field easy as all times are GPS locked. And of course - Thanks for the videos. Always informative and interesting even to a non-pilot like myself. Keep 'em comin'
