yeah i hate how some engsub/foreign sub changed in way to make it less gay & more like brotherhood lol.... like in the end when lazhan want to tell about a yuan (the kid).... wei ying said that ayuan is "their product/making"... it's kinda ambiguous... some sub saying he's their student/apprentice & he's good bc both wangxian teach him....but actual meaning is more like their child... that's why weiying said "no wonder ur handsome/good-looking" bc u got it from us (wangxian)..... the subs not wrong either way... but when understand Chinese a lil bit or it's tradition.... there's more to tell, it's not just brotherhood

@res- sanaura i don't think the subs are trying to make it less gay on purpose, it's just awkward translations. the subs team is made of people for whom english is not their first language, so they don't always get the nuance right, esp with jokes, idioms, etc. although i can't speak for subs on other streaming platforms as i've only watched the youtube ver. but regarding the scene you mentioned with a-yuan, wwx says, "含光君教出来的孩子 / the child taught by hanguang-hun," so saying he's their student is correct. although 教 can also be used in a home setting (家教). i think they just went with the more literal translation.

@@thedustwhispered yeah i know... that's why i said it's not wrong either way before... i watch it in yt, netflix, web... bc sometimes my internet slow so i just downloaded the rest & had some subs... keep changing it bc sometimes it doesn't fit.... yeah that's why i realized there's so much differences in some translation... the names of everything changed... i got confused a lot... i personally rather rough translation & intrepet myself... but they often translate with the interpretation on it.. sometimes they over translate the names of things, weapons, places, characters nicknames etc.... it's easier for international fans i guess but miss some details on it....like... my friend said.. lanzhan might thought weiying cheat with some girl lol... if she knew the rough trans.. she wouldn't think that.... e.g the scene that weiying regrads each other "as soulmates".. the trans is "as cultivation brother"... there's so many other things but I'm tired typing... i guess it doesn't really matter anyway....
