Granny Pat, my granny also drank Dr Pepper when it was available in the mini glass bottles. Seems like it tasted better than when it was in the bottles versus being in the cans that are sold nowadays.

That is one of my favorites my grandma used to make. She put bacon in hers and not sure what else. I have her recipe put away. It is so good. She made hers in a huge Tupperware bowl.

I would use Miracle Whip salad dressing instead of mayonaise adding sugar. No peas for me please. Looking forward to trying this! Sharon in Phoenix

Layered salad can be made any way a person likes. That’s the nice thing about it! Some add tomatoes. I don’t eat tomatoes. Miracle Whip if you like the tart taste. It doesn’t work for me.

Everybody has their own idea of the ingredients. My recipe came from a co-work, new from DC in 1977. I never changed it. It makes a pretty centerpiece because of its layers of color. Practice with the amount of sugar in the mayonnaise. Too much can wilt the lettuce. Like I said, Practice.

@@chitchatwithgrannypat7900 I’m definitely going to try it, it’s much better than just putting the stuff on a plate and yes, I’ll try and be patient and practice if it isn’t great the first time, thank you 🙏🏽 that’s good advice and it’s advice I need to hear 💗💗💗 I’ll be looking out for a lovely bowl now and I think I’ll start in the charity shops ☺️

@@autumn5852 Deep Flat bottom bowl like the trifle bowls. Taste test the sugar in your mayo. It takes a heavy covering but it is delicious. Use Mild or Sharp cheddar cheese sprinkled on top. Be sure and use purple onion. Lots of lettuce in the bottom of dish. That should do it!
