Hey Payton, does the backlinks country location matter? My agency was thinking of buying some backlinks from paitdigital but are unsure if it will be effective if we are in new Zealand targeting new Zealanders if the backlinks are coming from the uk or the us?

Yes, it does matter. You should seek backlinks only from the relevant sites, it's considered good practice. Suppose you have a website for a hospital, then getting backlinks from health related sites within the homeland will work best. Make sure the site you are linking to is ranked on Google and has some organic traffic. It is like an existing local business referring an another business. It solves Google's trust issue.

This is SEO 2020. In 2024 this doesn't apply anymore. Do a search for ANYTHING in Google and almost the entire first page is paid ads. You can't compete with that doing organic search SEO. Google doesn't care about organic search anymore, they're going where the money is - and that is paid ads. Backlinks? Not anymore. Domain authority is #1 Google parameter in 2024. Does your website answer a visitors question and solve a problem to make them take action.

I would have to disagree. Keywords will ALWAYS be important. They help Google (and humans) understand what the content is about and whether or not it can solve their problem. Site quality and backlinks are a HUGE part of Domain Authority. These are still the basics needed to rank. With that said, you are right that there is a big shift that is not favoring organic search. What are your plans to overcome this big market shift?

@ClarkSmithOff page keyword SEO is over, but I agree On-page SEO keywording will always matter,. But backlinking? Not really anymore. You can increase domain authority without a lot of backlinks, its the quality of the backlinks that matter, not the quantity. I have ranked many clients with very few backlinks - but they were all extremely valuable backlinks or two-tier backlinks. Tons of backlinks is very 2014 SEO. How are our plans? The same plans we used to with every Google algorithm change for the past 2o years. Adapt to it and overcome. Wash. Rinse. Repeat. That being said - I love your channel and your common sense way of approaching this industry. We've been at this game for over 20 years but you picked it up quickly. Kudos.
