Thanks been waiting for a decent review. Iv nearly bought the md500 & yxznrc f06 e135 but resited as did not tick all the boxes. This does with great nav lights, scale look, proper ish tx not ps4 style and the cherry on top is that fenestron tail which seemed to hold it fine. I have the c187 which flew well. Only thing i wish i cud turn off the optical flow. Especially when landing your effectivley fighting against it which looked a bit like what it was doing rather than true ground effect. To overcome i hit the land button from at least 1.5m from ground and it seems to bring it down nicely. N.b your garden looks fantastic👍

Yeah...when landing manually with left stick you are right, was challenging, but I think because of ground affect not optical flow. Same with all small helis in my experience. Using landing button is the way to go but takes some practice to hold it close to the ground and time pushing the button. Practice practice. That was first flight so not bad. Wouldn't be fun or challenging if it was easy.

Sure. They are ALL toys but there is a difference between "toy" grade and "hobby" grade. Bit of a blurred line sometimes but this heli is more at the toy end. For me RC helis that are flown collective pitch (3D aerobatic or scale) are hobby grade. There are exceptions but that's my general rule. Both are fun but hobby grade demands a lot more skill in its assembly, setup and flying.

@@EssentialRC we have highly efficient fixed pitch blades now. Your argument for collective pitch over fixed pitch is pretty obsolete, at least for scale flying.

Rc era C190 is beautiful. The only problem with this model is -- SWINGS LIKE A PENDULUM if you move it from side to side and if you hover the heli while it is moving.

I'll see if I can film an indoor flight to see if that's the case. I don't get the pendulum comment. Maybe optical flow trying to hold it in position?

@@EssentialRC I had the RC-ERA C186 with optical flow and it pendulum-ed as well , especially when landing . I bought another RC-ERA C186 model without optical flow and it's one of my best hel's to fly , very smooth and looks great in the air. So your comment about the optical flow sensor trying to hold position sounds right.

I think that's what optical flow does. It finds a distinct pattern on the ground and tries to get the heli/drone to stay at that position and at that height. Go above 8 metres and it switches to barometric which is air pressure based and can only lock to an altitude...and not that accurately. I don't think anyone would fly this higher than 5 metres. You would loose visual orientation

Is the radio switchable to Mode 1 or Mode 2?

It's Mode 2. Nothing in the manual for changing it.
