I've been struggling with going more than 25 m without stopping for weeks now. This morning, I tried out these steps and all of the sudden I was able to go 200 m without stopping for the first time ever. I still have some way to go to be where I want to be, but this was a huge improvement in just one day. Thank you so much for posting!

My guess is that you are likely trying to swim on top of the water and constantly fighting the water instead of swimming relaxed and through the water rotating and stretching from side to side. Also make sure you are constantly breathing - not waiting until you really need a breath to breathe.

@downonbarbe5 жыл бұрын
yep. A trick I found is to not look directly down or ahead. Look in 45 down and keep a long neck if that makes sense. Learn to draw in air like Popeye, exhale out bubbles before breaking level and anticipate the water level so that you can almost feel just exactly how much your mouth needs to rise to effeciently bring in air. Do NOT exagerate this movement in the neck or bring it back on the wake of your stroke toward your shoulder. Your neck, rhoms and traps will thank you.

Do I breathe in through the mouth, then out through the nose? Or out through the mouth as well? I find when I exhale, the air is out really fast, and my head is still under water. Then I automatically feel like inhaling (because I'm out of air). Then I end up breathing water In, and start choking.

amazing video thank you! After you breath in, do you close your mouth before rotate back to streamlined position? I seem to drink most of the pool during that time. I've had the same issue, but I'm slowly improving! Are you exhaling water out gradually as you're under water? My advice would be to try to make sure your lungs are as empty as possible, so you don't try to exhale-inhale as you take a breath in :) I'm just a beginner myself so not sure if that helps at all, but keep going!

Ok,this video is old but ill throw my question nevertheless. I watched many videos for correct breathing and most of them advice to keep half face INSIDE the water and with the other half simply inhale. In this video we see clearly that both eyes are out of the water so this is very confusing for someone who tries to learn freestyle breathing on what is wrong or right. For me I find extreme hard to keep half of my face inside water ,whilst trying to inhale with the other half out of the water ,without swallowing most water from the pool...!!! So which method is finally correct,or are both methods corrrect? ,cause another video strictly advices that keeping both eyes out of the water is wrong.
