Texas A&M Baseball and Tennessee Baseball played in game 1 of the 2024 College World Series Finals. It is a best of 3 series that determines the National Champion.
Covering sports in a unique way since 2018.

Hey guys did you know Jeff Kent has a son that plays for A&M? I kept waiting for ESPN to mention it, but they never did. You would think they could get like a camera shot of him every once in a while but I don't know why they didn't. What ump is doing is spacing himself from catch and letting him know which shoulder he is looking over with his hand placement. Nothing drove me crazy more than an ump climbing up my back or getting in my way... so I always appreciated umps like this one and took care to cover the wild pitches with nobody on base so ump didn't get dinged in the berries. My absolute favorite umps not only did that, but they'd tell me the location of every called ball so I never had to ask. Thats why this ump would say "ball... low" "or ball... outside". It wasn't for the camera. It was for catch and batter to know where his strike zone was so they could frame it. I didn't like this umps strike zone. Seemed inconsistent. I liked how he handled business otherwise.

A&M pitchers were on fire today. There really just wasn't much my Vols can do with pitching that good. Hopefully they can have answers tomorrow but this A&M is looking much more deadly than in the SEC tourny and at the right time. I have faith the Vols can pull this out though.
